[pointing-up] Liz should have been so lucky!! [a1f5] [rofl10] [a1f5] [rofl10] [a1f5] [thumb]
Can you imagine if they'd paired Liz up with Tony Peterson or Chris Jennings rather than those characters with Carolyn?! Though with Liz' luck, if they were going to go with a younger man, it would have been Jeb Hawkes because that would have actually made some sense. But I wouldn't have ever wished THAT on Liz!! 1966 is a bit early for cougar time but if Susan Lucci was able to dabble in boy toys in the 1980's, I'm sure that Joan would have been able to do a bit of dabbling. At the very least, it could have let to an interesting curse or two.
-
([pointing-up] And something tells me, given what we know about her, Joan would have loved to have played a younger man storyline for Liz!!)
(Some fans actually wonder if a relationship developed between Judith and Tim in 1897 - though maybe that's just wishful thinking on their parts...)

In Adriana Pena's Collinsport Chronicles, Adam returns to Collinsport. It's expected that he's going to reconcile with Carolyn but he actually ends up running off with Elizabeth.
-
([pointing-up] Why doesn't it surprise me that she would have written that?! [hall2_wink])
-
It fits in perfectly in terms of the Adrianaverse.

([pointing-up] I can just imagine...)

Especially since she had Barnabas hook up with Sheriff Patterson at one point.

(Which is quite a testament to her imagination because I suspect very few fans might have come up with that...)

Oh, most definitely! But, once again, poor Julia is shut out completely.

Without having read it, I didn't mean to imply that her imagination coming up with that plot device was either a good or bad thing - only that few fans would have ever come up with it!
As for poor Julia, well, that's just classic DS. I suspect that about the only way they would ever get together would be if both characters were being written out of the show because while they remained on the show the Will They or Won't They dynamic would be too fruitful from a writing POV, especially when it comes to great Julia moments...

Indeed. Putting David and Maddie together on Moonlighting kinda jumped the shark for that show, as well as Major Nelson and Jeannie. I'm sure that there are others.
It's been many years since I read Adriana's Collinsport Chronicles, so my memory of this may be a little spotty. Julia finally gave up on Barnabas and married another doctor who was about the same age. Only to find that Barnabas' next fixation was a local woman of about Julia's age. Julia's husband did pass away at one point but I dont think that Barnabas and Julia ever got together.
I neglected to mention that Sheriff Patterson never got over the loss of his long term partner Dave Woodard.
-
([pointing-up] I remember hearing about the relationship between Patterson and Woodard. But that seems to make a lot more sense than Barnabas and Patterson because Patterson and Woodard were always presented as good friends, whereas Barnabas was always trying to hide all sorts of truths from the frequently frustrated, if not outright angry Patterson. However, that being said, I suspect we're all familiar with the soap trope of how two characters who were adversaries for years on a soap suddenly realize they were attracted to each other all along...)
