Old and New Smileys
« on: March 07, 2002, 09:19:31 PM »
I've tried to seek out the answer for this question but couldn't find it so, forgive me if it's been covered.  What I'm wondering is how do you get the old smileys to show up - like the flamethrower and the one with the little thumbs up?  Are these linked from remote sites like the avatars or am I missing a feature on our great new board?   ?!?

Well, CastleBee, it's like this, [emblgh] I guess I have to admit that half the fun of originally setting up this forum was not making all the features readily apparent. I wanted to see how many people would be able to find them on their own before someone actually came out and asked about them.[evilg] I'll certainly also admit that it wasn't necessarily a nice thing to do, but it's probably a quirk with us IT types that only another IT would understand and appreciate. ;) Sorry about that, but we have to find some ways to amuse ourselves during those long hours of coding, uploading, tinkering, uploading again, tinkering some more, uploading some more, tink-well, I'm sure you get the picture.  :)
The truth is that if you check out the second and third pages in the Posting section of the Help files, you'll find all the codes for the smileys that don't appear on the Post reply page.
You can access Help by clicking on its link located at the top and bottom of most of the forum's pages. And I'll be looking forward to seeing you use what you'll learn there. [wink2]

Sorry to be a pain, MB, but like Castlebee I wanted more emoticons too.  I checked where you said on the help pages, and the only thing that comes up is the same string of smileys that appears above the box when you type a post.

I fouunnnd them!!!

[read]

This one is very cute [vryevl]

I hope I'll never have to use this one [flmthrw]

[beer] Okay, everybody start singing:
"Du, du liegst mir im Herzen,
Du, du, Liegst mir in Sinn.
Du, du, machst mir viel Schmertzen,
Weisst nicht wie gut ich dir bin." [beer]

Much more realistic than any of the ones ever used on DS [skull]

But I think this one is my favorite [bnghd]

And now I will stop  8)

Well, I finally found some of them ... [shkdb]

But not all of 'em, like the ones Luciaphil and Castlebee are using ...  [vryangg]

I"m sitting here looking at all the amusing graphics you guys are using and it occurs to me that the smiley with the twisted eyeballs bears a remarkable resemblance to the ghost of Jeremiah, poor man. LOL

Oh, that's funny, Raineypark! [lghy]

Maybe I should change the name of that smiley from crazed.gif to Jeremiah.gif. ;D

Okay MB...and maybe I should get my IT hubby (or my teenaged daughter, better yet)  to teach me how to use the smileys.....or hadn't you noticed that I never use them myself?
