Suki Forbes, We Hardly Knew Ye

Dear Fellow Dark Shadows Fans,

Although she appeared in only a few episodes, Suki Forbes made an indelible impression on us all.  I admired the way that, even in her last moments on Earth, Suki had the presence of mind to hold on to her wig as Barnabas let her slip down to the floor.

At least, Suki had more air time to demostrate her feminine wiles than that other Dark Shadows vixen, Pansy Faye(but much more about the vocally "talented" Ms. Faye next year).  Thankfully, we have not quite seen the last of Mrs. Forbes, for:

the ghost of Suki will reappear as a witness for the prosecution in the case against Barnabas Collins, with the ghost of the dishonorable Rev. Ian Trask presiding.

I really, really liked good, old Suki.  Like Lou Grant would say, she had spunk.  She also reminds me of one of my old prom dates.  You wouldn't wanna cross her.

I enjoyed the whole Suki experience and was sorry to see her go--she was a hoot and a half  :D

LOL, no, Nancy, I'm not.  I truly got a huge kick out of the Suki character and was sorry they never did anything more with her.

BTW, no one's said anything about her bizarre death.  Last time I checked, strangling doesn't allow for last words  8)

(and Robin, it's great advice you gave in reference to the candles being lit, but I'm too obstinate to take it :D)

I really enjoyed her and it's a shame they didn't keep her around for at least a little while.  That scene when she waltzes into Collinwood, in that outfit (and how perfectly color coordinated with her husband-brother, as I mentioned the other day) and how nervous she makes him is a marvel.  It certainly livened up a gloomy story!!

I can go even further - I actually applauded when Barnabas strangled her, though it was a bit botched.  He hasn't gotten that strangulation thing down yet though the first doxie was more expert.   The Suki character annoyed me no end (in case I didn't make that clear before) and the sound of her voice  . . well, don't get me started, other than to say I'm glad I don't hear it anymore. :)

But I see I am being warned she turns up again . . .

You know who Suki reminds me of?  Nellie Olson from "Little House on the Prairie".  Maybe that's why I liked her.  I thought Nellie was kinda cool, too.

Oh, I agree.  It seems they could've found a more plausible way to reveal a killer's identity-- even the tired dropped cufflink scenario that the writers use later was an improvement.

But Suki's last words don't bother me nearly as much as later in the series when victims utter their last words while being strangled.  Argh!


P.S.  Love your new custom title, btw.  I'm so impressed you solved MB's math problem! :D
