I KNOW I don't deserve it, because I never seem to have the time to add to other people's greetings... Actually, this has not been one of my better days AT ALL. I was just let go from my temporary position, two weeks before being set to go permanent. Basically, I feel like a 47 year old loser with no life. Sigh....I spied the birthday wishes immediately and it really is a bright spot in my day! It means a lot, thanks.

Kuanyin -- I know it sucks to be let go. I've been through it a coupla times when the economy's taken a downturn. I hope things will make an about-face for you soon. Without meaning to sound trite, I can honestly say that there have been times when what looks like a terrible situation has turned out to be an opportunity. Having seen the quality of your posts on this board, I'm pretty sure you're not a loser. :)

Best wishes,

When I was a kid, I remember having a few dreams straight out of DS. The only thing I remember is that one of them featured Gerard and Quentin, and the tension between them was almost unbearable. Somehow I was involved on one side or the other, and I knew that, no matter what happened to one, the other was going to kill me. Don't remember how it resolved.

A couple of years ago, though, I had a very vivid dream in which I discovered that Rose Cottage existed in my hometown in a place I had never visited before. When I discovered it there, my excitement was palpable -- mainly because Nancy Barrett was there. ;)  But Gerard also featured prominently in the dream, and again he presented a threat. By this time, I had already met Jim Storm, but it wasn't a caricature of Jim in the dream -- it was really supposed to be Gerard, and he was one evil fellow. Again, I don't recall how it resolved, but the images I have are very intense. And no, Rose cottage was not a model; it was a real house, although it looked a lot like the prop in the show.

Some critical remarks about DREAMS OF THE DARK:

It didn't have Julia Hoffman in it. Where was Julia?
--Anonymous

Julia rocks. We want Julia.
--Name Withheld

What? No Julia? You should be sent to Windcliff!
--No Name Submitted

Windcliff is too good for you. Without Julia, this book is no better than a Roger Davis adventure.
--Name Also Withheld

This is an exciting book about an invisible Dr. Hoffman.
--Unsigned

The authors must have been on sedatives.
--Identity Hidden

The simple reality is that you have a deep-rooted fear of women doctors who help build bodies out of corpses, isn't that right?
--Dr. X

I love the scene where somebody calls Julia on the phone, and she tells them they're full of shit.

ROFLMAO! I can't hear anything like this without reminiscing about my best friend's little bro when we were all growing up. Dad was quite the turd and little Billy got the worst of it. OK, Billie WAS a brat, but he redeemed himself this time. Dad had bottle of Cepacol (which used to be mouthwash available here in Midwest that was bright yellow in clear bottle). Billy found an empty and filled it right up! I guess the commotion when Dad used it was something to hear. We all managed to keep Billy out of the house and away from danger for a week, before the tempest was spent.

That story makes my mouth very uncomfortable.

Lo and behold, I have received invites to contribute short stories to two different anthologies, which I'm definitely interested in (one of them is called SLEUTHS AND SPIRITS--one guess what it's about ;) ). Since I don't have appropriate tales already lying around for them, I'm gonna have to write them -- and both anthos have tight deadlines. So I need to break away on DS long enough to work on the stories.

As it is, I'm seeing that traffic for LABYRINTH has dwindled somewhat; I hope those of you who are still reading it have enjoyed it and will come back to it when I start writing on it again. Hopefully I'll have these stories done within the next two or three weeks.

It's here...Chapter 14 of DARK SHADOWS: THE LABYRINTH OF SOULS. Kinda slow going this week; had lots of things going on other than writing. I've about reached the end of the outlined material, so forthcoming chapters will be taken from much rougher notes, and consequently posted at slightly longer intervals.

Your comments are always welcome!

Trivia Note: Either there is a bathroom at Collinwood, or Quentin has discovered yet another parallel time room!
