Don't forget the underrated but essential "Thou must."

Roland -- right with you on Brandy (even though in the song it's a western port).  [ghost_wink]

When HoDS and NoDS came to the theater as a double-feature in '73, Maggie May by Rod Stewart was on the charts. Though the lyrics themselves didn't have any connection with DS, well, there was, you know, Maggie... so... there it was.

When I was working on DREAMS OF THE DARK, Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" from TITANIC was playing everywhere, all the time. I heard it about a thousand times on my way to and from Lyndhurst, which I visited while I was writing the book. The lyrics struck me as an apt theme for NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS...even though I'm not a real big Celine Dion fan, and I wouldn't really use the song as a theme for NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Re: Beware of Windows SP3
« on: August 05, 2008, 11:31:01 PM »
I may be the last soul on earth to get SP3, but my automatic updates finally put it on my computer today. So far (fingers crossed), no issues at all, and some MS programs do run faster -- MS Word and Front Page, if nothing else -- as advertised. Hoping for the best here...

I too am always nervous about updates, as I (like a hundred thousand others who use Zone Alarm) was knocked off the internet by a recent Windows update.

Really great pics, all of 'em. Thanks for putting those up. :)

Oh yeah, it feels good to write DARK SHADOWS again.

As was mentioned amid the recaps of the Fest, I have written an audio drama for Big Finish's DS series. It's titled DARK SHADOWS: PATH OF FATE, and features Quentin and Angelique. It's already gone into production, though I don't know what the release date will be. Stuart will probably offer more details when he has an opportunity.

Is it scary? Oh yes, it is scary. Is it full of magic and enchantment? Oh yes, it's full of magic and enchantment. Is it full of carbohydrates, saturated fat, red dye #3, tar, nicotine, and aspartame? Well, that's a matter of interpretation, but in my view, not so much.

That's wonderful news!  I'm so glad they have Mark onboard for the audio dramas.

It upsets me very little, as well.

Oh yeah. WTG, young lady.  [ghost_grin]

What remains of the story is genuinely spooky, but the film cries out for a restoration. Are you listening, MGM?

This bit in particular is nicely said.  [ghost_wink]

Happy, happy, Sheenasma. :)

Find Bobubas and ask him to make you a mudslide. You will be happy all weekend long.

Anybody who's ever read a word I've written probably knows that I'm no small fan of Joanna Going.  [ghost_wink]

I rarely see him given much credit, but Stefan Gierasch was absolutely superb in the 91 DS, both as Woodard and as Joshua -- particularly the latter.

[spoiler]
(It's a shame they did what they did to him as Woodard, as he could have progressed into a long-running Stokes-style character with ease.) [/spoiler]

As Joshua, he brought a real element of class to the character -- and was quite believable as a stuffy, stern, but compassionate landowner from that period. Like Thayer David, he was one of the very best character actors in the show.
