Barnabas' Choice
« on: August 15, 2002, 08:46:02 PM »
VAM had brought up an interesting point in another post, so I thought I'd make it its own topic. Say the writers decided to have Eve fall in love with Barnabas instead of Jeff Clark. You would have both Eve and Angelique fighting for Barnabas. Now, I ask you, if Barnabas HAD to choose between the two of them, who would he pick? Going only by what has happened on the show up to now, let's see...

There's Angelique-
She's made him a vampire.
Killed some of his family.
And has been obsessed with him for 200 years.

Then, there's Eve-
She's an artificial woman.
She is known as the most evil woman of the eighteenth century.
Her favorite hobby is killing people, for the fun of it.
And she has even killed two members of her own family.
Plus, she is also on Nicholas' side of things.

It would have been a more interesting twist to this story too Lindsey!having Eve chasing after  Peter/Jeff was just too boring! Good point :)

I would imagine that faced with a choice like that, Willie would start looking awfully good to Barnabas.

It would be interesting to see these two duking it out... even more than the Angelique and Laura Collins with their war of words and supernatural powers.
It is a good day because I am still ticking!

I think Angie would open the proverbial can of whoop-a$s and fold Eve into a coffee table.  phunk-shui!

You're right, Ringo- Barnabas, when pressed, will side with the sure thing.  In this case, Angie would only have to use the trial size can!

"God will get you for that, Walter-er Ringo"

Well umm Eve vs. Angelique, that would be interesting to see. Eve wanting Barnabas would've been a lot better then Eve wanting Jeff/Peter, and it would make the current mediocre storyline better.

You're right on that one. It definetely would make the story much more interesting if it had been Barnabas instead of Jeff Clark.   Although I really don't think that Eve would be a match for Angelique because even though Eve is totally evil, Angelique still has her supernatural powers going for her, something that Eve doesn't possess.

Barnabas and Maude. . .

I think he'd run away--far away.

And it certainly would have been far more interesting to have Eve in love with Barnabas.  I thought the Peter 'n' Eve subplot was horrendous.  I can't imagine an evil woman falling for a guy like that.  I can't imagine ANY woman falling for Peter/Jeff, but that's another story.

Love, Robin

This is an interesting scenario, especially given the fact that Angelique tried to be the life force for Eve and failed. They simply dropped that angle and introduced the "Danielle Roget" character instead - a big mistake as far as I'm concerned. The Danielle/Peter Bradford thing was dumb and boring.

They should have gone ahead and used Angelique as the life force for Eve. Angelique would have been cured of her vampirism and at the same time "connected" to Eve, as Barnabas is to Adam. Eve would have had a good reason to fall for Barnabas on that level, and still be evil since she got her life force from evil Angie.

Later, Barnabas could have discovered that Angelique had been the life force, tracked her down and destroyed her, thus eliminating Eve and Angelique at the same time. Would have made a more sensible ending to this story than sending Angelique back in time to 1796 only to have her die again and be resurrected again in 1897. Eve's ending in this story was rather mundane as well.
