Barn's bangs
« on: July 12, 2002, 11:07:16 PM »
What was up today with the bangs??  One spike had fallen out of place and was hanging conspicuously out of alignment with the other three...perhaps they were running low on gel.
I wonder how they decided whether it would be a 3, 4, or 5 spike day anyway...
(This is why I should never be home during the day   ::) )

Lol! My sister and I always check out Barnabas' bangs each day and see if he is having a good or bad hairday. To truly be having a good day, all the spikes must be aligned and his hair cannot be fuzzy. He has very few days like this. But you have to admire his originality-he is the only man I have ever seen having spiked bangs!  ;D

Note to Ringo: Aquanet keeps EXISTING hair plastered to your head!

I always figured they had Barn in spiky bangs so he would look scarier, more like a vampire, but he shouldn't have continued to have them once he was human again.

Frankly, I preferred Bramwell's hairstyle, all fluffy, and was stunned to see how thick Mr. Frid's hair really was!

Love, Robin

Actually, Herman Munster's (that handsome big lug) bangs beat Barnabas' to the airwaves by 3 years!  :D

I read that the original model for the portrait of Barnabas was actually a balding man with a comb-over!  When they hired Frid, his face was simply painted in to what was already there.

Hilarious, but kind of a let-down... :)

I think Barnabus's bangs are so cute! That's one of the few things I like about him! LOL just kiddin' ;) His eyebrows, though .... OMG those need to go. PRONTO. But his bangs being spikey adds some sort of odd twist to his physical appearance, and we already know there's an emotional/spiritual twist about him [duh, that he's a vampire]. Makes him look much more interesting. If I had bangs, I'd style them like that too! HEHE

B.J.,
I did forget about good ol' Herman! I don't tend to watch a whole lot of The Munsters, but I do remember Herman's stylish do! Thanks for correcting me!

I agree Robin!!  It's hard to even think it's the same actor playing Bramwell because J.F. did such a good job making each character unique. Bramwell looks nothing like Barnabas and vice versa. And that hair!!  What a difference!!

As for Aqua Net,  Now I know why this product has been around for the past 50 years!!  (do you think they use it as an ingredient in crazy glue?) ;)

That's true.  Associate producer Robert Costello posed for the "body" that you see in the Barnabas portrait and then Frid's face was painted in there.  Costello was balding and pulled over what hair he had to the front since the actor in the process of being hired was likely not balding or bald.  That's how the banged look was created for Barnabas.  This story has been told at the festival by Costello and Frid.

I guess you can saw both Costello and Frid got "banged up" by this story.

Nancy ;D
