Looking at today's front page screen cap reminded me of something I've wondered for years.... Does anyone know about the tiny little cameo pendant Nancy Barret always seemed to be wearing while on DS? (I don't remember if she had it on the other couple of soaps she was on.) Was this a family heirloom of hers that she was permitted to wear over her regular "modern day" garb? (Though I suppose, if it was her own, and she never wanted to take it off for sentimental or superstitious reasons, she could even have been wearing it under her "antique" costumes.) Has anyone who's gone to those festivals noticed if she still wears it?
For that matter, I recall Humbert Astredo always had on a wedding ring, even though "Nicholas Blari" whom he played most often, was not married (and HA's own marriage came to an end at some point soon afterward.) Isn't this rather unusual for actors to bring these rather obvious indicators of their personal lives onto the set?

I know some actors and actresses wear jewelry for sentimental reasons and will not remove it. So it has to be concealed... Written into the storyline... Or simply allowed to remain in plain sight with no explination.
I think it was on the soap Another World ... There was this actor who was married in real life... But his character on the show wasn't... So they explained his wedding band away by writing into the storyline that it belonged to his father, who was a policeman, killed in the line of duty on the show.
I guess it depends on the actor or actress and what their views are on whether to remove something that means alot to them.
In the case of a wedding band the views of the spouse have to be taken into consideration also. That ring represents alot and can cause the biggest argument.

In alot of movies, I notice actors wearing what is presumably a wedding band on their right hand.
I never really noticed Nancy B's pendant....
Good topic DFriedlander!!

Nuns are "married" to Christ. Nicholas is "married" to the Devil. Hence, the ring.
Nicholas Blair is Satan's Nun >:D ;)

Nicholas Blair is Satan's Nun
Hee hee, PennyDreadful!
A friend reminded me of the legendary story about David McCallum's wedding ring, which the actor forgot to remove while playing Illya Kuryakin. He tells me that letters poured in to NBC about it. But it remained a mystery on the show, though I recall noticing it.

My Italian Grandmother ALWAYS wore her wedding ring on her right hand....it was customary.
It's also customary for widows to move their wedding rings to their right hand after the death of their spouse. This sort of thing mattered quite a lot when I was growing up.....much less so these days.

Then Satan must be operating on a tight budget with some of his "spouses". [laughing_devil] Nick should've held out for something with lots of sparkly baguettes..

David Selby used to wear his watch (a graduation present from his parents) on the show - when not in an 1800's storyline. He never wore his wedding ring though. You'll notice in Fest pictures, etc., he still wears it to this day. In one of those teen magazines way back when, he said it was his most prized possession.

Hmmm. No doubt Jamison Selby is happy to know that should a Strak-type ever come knocking on his father's door ready to settle any Leviathans-type bargain David might have struck in the past. [wink2]

Sometimes you'll see a pinky ring on Jonathan's left pinky. When I first started watching again in the 80's I noticed this during one episode and thought it was a wedding ring, which I *knew* was wrong because I knew he wasn't, nor ever has been, married. ;)

I think that's his Yale signet ring.
