Title: alexandra party girl!
Post by: michael c on December 13, 2005, 03:31:12 AM
one never know what one will stumble across when perusing the internet...

if anyone is interested in a very recent photograph of our girl the 'newyorksocialdiary.com' covered an extremely swank party for writer dominick dunne held on october 25th.there among such swells as carolina herrera, judy peabody and wendy vanderbilt(!) is a photograph of the still quite lovely alexandra moltke isles.

who knew ms.isles moved among such rarified circles?i knew she came from some sort of 'old money' but apparently she's still a player.give it a look. [winkb]

Here's a direct link to the page: Dominick Dunne's Old Fashioned Cocktail Birthday Party (http://newyorksocialdiary.com/partypictures/2005/10_25_05/partypictures10_25_05.php). Scroll not quite halfway down the page.

She's also mentioned as having attended this event: The Second Annual Fountain House Symposium and Luncheon (http://newyorksocialdiary.com/partypictures/2005/05_17_05/partypictures05_17_05.php). But she doesn't appear in any of the photos.

Thanks for the head's up, mscbryk.  [santa_smiley]

Our Victoria has hardly aged a day.  I'm not surprised she is in these social circles.  After all, I don't think she ran into Claus von Bulow at the supermarket.

I totally confused that caption and thought she was Colette Harron. o_O

Took me a few minutes to realize that Alexandra was standing next to her. XD [santa_rolleyes]

i agree.alexandra is as striking as ever(although at this point i wonder if the box of "nice n' easy" natural black isn't in the vanity).

i guess i'm not that surprised to see her in these social circles either.i mean the fat royalty checks that she receives from 'dan curtis productions' must have afforded her a very opulent lifestyle. [winkg]

It was hard to tell from the light in the picture but her hair has grey highlights and isn't all brunette.  It is also apparent she has not done the botox or plastic surgery other stars/ladies of means have done.  That is totally her.

I believe Alexandra Moltka is by birth a baroness. As a titled lady from a well-known European family this in itself would give her access to the more aristocratic or old-money circles. I also think she married into money as well. I understand she was smuggled out of Norway or whatever country she came from during the onslaught of WWII. In many ways she has had an interesting life. Von Bulow had a very similar aristocratic background and that's how they probably met. I know this stuff as I grew up in Austria and had an aristocratic friend who knew lots of countesses and counts (though in general they didn't especially like Americans). Upbringing and manners are very inbred and they all gravitate towards each other. I was the curious onlooker at best.

Um, there's no royalty checks from DCP from what I've heard.  Not even from MPI, which is why when the tapes first started coming out David Selby, on Joan River's talk show, wouldn't hawk them.  Because, as he stated, "I'm not getting paid for those so I won't promote them."

She's got money from her family is why she's in these circle.  ;)

I hope someday that she could make another appearance to a DS function since she made it to the Television and Radio Tribute. It would be so great to meet her, she seems like she is really nice.

I think it would be awesome if she showed up at the 40th Anniversary Fest, but I'm not holding my breath.   [santa_undecided]

Seriously?  Wow.  I just assumed the show's actors were getting some kind of residuals from the MPI sales and from the former Sci-Fi Channel airings.  It must be really irritating for them not to get some financial reimbursement from the tape/DVD sales.

I'm not sure, but I think I read that while her family background was aristocratic, her actual upbringing in the U.S. was in rather modest circumstances.

When were those interview bits at the ends of the tapes recorded?   AM looks basically the same then as during DS, and I was guessing that was around 1990.    (She talks about imagination being important.)    I'm just getting depressed about how much she's changed since then.
