It is lovely to see all of the anniversary wishes, and Victoriawinters, that cake looks super yum! Here's to another 40 years.

It seems to me that it was very easy for Barnabas to create a vampire. He didn't need to do anything except drain their blood. He never took precautions to either prevent a victim from becoming a vampire, or to make sure they became a vampire.

In the Dracula movie, Dracula had to give some of his blood to the victim if he wanted them to become a vampire. Anyway,
I think that this explains Roxanne; one of Barnabas' victims became a vampire in 1795, and then they, or one of their victims, made Roxanne a vampire. This explains why Roxanne was a vampire in 1970, but didn't recognize Barnabas.
I prefer there be something extra that the vampire needs to do in order for their victim to be a vampire, otherwise the world would be full of vampires.

Hi Millicent, welcome!

I think, and of course probably everyone knows, that TPTB decided to make Barnabas into an innocent; after they realized they couldn't kill him off like they had first planned. ::).

But, during the show they keep switching back to him knowing lots of occult things. Doesn't he do some sort of spell during 1897? Trying to help Quentin, and then again to hurt Laura? My memory might not be that great since I only watched 1897 once. ???

The New Doctor Who is really good. Now I just wish they'd make a really good new Dark Shadows! It would also be nice if they aired the original Dark Shadows.

Just got to thinking about Angelique/Alexis, and having Alexis used as the lifeforce again, it could have been interesting to have had Barnabas fall for her. At least this would have made more sense then having him fall for Roxanne.

They could have Barnabas meet Alexis, and fall in love with her. Then "Alexis" would have to pretend to be in love with him. This would explain his wanting to save the lifeforce much better. His falling in Love with Roxanne, just because she was pretty was really lame! There are lots of pretty girls out there, is he so simple that he falls in love with women just because of the way they look? He knew nothing about Roxanne, she could have been very undesirable for all he knew. Maybe she was a prostitute.

Anyway, as I said, they should have introduced some of these characters into regular time, and forgotten about Parallel Time.

I also think that if they wanted to do the Gerard Stiles ghost story, they should not have gone back to 1840. This was already done in the Quentin ghost story. They should have had the ghost story scarier, and had the RT cast perform a successful exorcism. At least that would have been different.

Quentin in Parallel Time was not an interesting character, and I just didn't like it that they kept having David Selby play all of these different characters who were all named Quentin.

I think that Parallel Time would have been more fun if they had done it with our Quentin going through, instead of Barnabas. This would have given Jonathan the time he needed to be in the movie.

I also would have preferred that Angelique
have used Alexis' lifeforce, instead of Roxanne's.
They could have used Donna W. as our time Willie's Roxanne then, or they could have used Elizabeth Eis for Willie's Roxanne. I know I never cared for Barnabas falling for Roxanne.

Anyway, I wish they had stayed in normal time too, and forgot about Parallel Time. Also wish they had, had David Selby play Quentin, our Quentin, and not all of the wierd, boring Quentins.

I'm not too fond of children in my television shows - especially if it's a baby plot. I'm very thankful there were no baby plots carried out on DS.

What about Jenny and Quentin's twins? They were never shown (except as swaddled bundles), but they were definitely babies. I thought their storyline was fantastic, and probably would have been even better if they were able to get some actual footage with real babies.

This is such a fun bunch of posts. I still haven't added any new DVDs to my piddlely collection, which as of now consists of one DVD, At least I have the forum because reading your opinions is almost as fun as watching them. I'm craving them so badly that I am going to go over my budget and put in a fund to add a Dark Shadows DVD every two months.

I can't wait till I can start watching episodes again.

Has any one seen these before? They are pretty cool. Click on Dark Shadows to see figures of Barnabas, Dr. Hoffmann, Angelique, and Quentin

Quite. It would have been great to see Terry in modern clothes, and lots of fun to see what kind of character she would have played. How do you think Quentin would have reacted to seeing someone who looked like Beth?

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Barnabas had bitten Angelique and turned her into his servant the way he did with Willie. I wonder if her will would have been strong enough to fight his will.

It would have been terrible to see Barnabas wearing a leisure suit, a pastel green suit with a white belt and shoes. The horror! Oh how ghastly! Roger could have had a lilac one. No this is too awful!
