Dark Shadows Casting
« on: September 02, 2006, 10:58:07 PM »
After watching the 2004 DS pilot last Saturday, I thought Marley Shelton's portrayal of Victoria Winters was pretty decent, but the rest of the cast just didn't impress me. I don't know if this question has been posted here before, but does anybody have a dream cast for a future DS series and/or movie?

Whether or not the question has been asked before, it's fun to update it as new actors and actresses become known.  And I thank you for the opportunity to suggest a not-so-new actress, Sigourney Weaver, for Julia Hoffman.  Or, if it were to be Dark Shadows: The Next Generation, Sigourney Weaver as Julia Hoffman's great-niece, who has come to Collinwood in search of a wondrous medallion that her crazy old great-aunt used to ramble on about in the nursing home, and which somewhere along the line acquired mystical properties but which mysteriously disappeared.  If only Grayson Hall were still alive, I'd love to see her playing Great-Aunt Julia, rambling on with or without her false teeth in place.

Good grief, I just now remembered when I saw this topic, about the poll in Shadowgram before the Fest where they wanted to know everyone's casting ideas for a DS movie or tv series and they said  they would announce the results at the Fest.  Did anyone hear these results announced at the Fest?  I  don't know if I just wasn't around when they announced it or if it got skipped.

What a great idea Lydia!!

If she could keep it toned-down, I say Wynonna Ryder as Victoria.

How about Holly Marie Combs as Maggie?

I think Holly Marie Combs would be perfect for Vicki.

I've got an idea for Barnabas Collins in the classic "vein:"  How about Ciaran Hinds, the actor who played Caesar in HBO's Rome series?
Here's a couple of pics.  What do you think?

And here's a possibility for our Dr. Hoffman - Francis Fisher.

I think Ciaran Hinds was fantastic in "Persuasion" (one of my favorite movies) but he was off the mark playing the more intense Mr. Rochester in another version of "Jane Eyre". Basically, he turned Rochester into an unpleasant screaming shrew. Don't know if this was the director's fault or what happened .. but, in a more subtle and cool role as Captain Wentworth in "Persuasion" he was very impressive and charming. I tend to feel he overacts and becomes shrill in the more intense roles and thus might not be a good candidate as the moody Barnabas. Though, probably the casting crew thought so for Mr. Rochester - Hinds tends to LOOK the part of brooding types. I'd go more for Alan Rickman but think he's too old by now.
