Just saw this in the big movie thread, but thought I'd comment here as well.  This is GREAT news.  I expected them to ask Mr. Frid.  I just wasn't sure if he'd have an interest in participating.  Very glad to hear he will be involved in some capacity!

I followed the link to Frid's page from the main movie thread, but thanks Nancy for posting it here! This is definitely awesome news and as MB stated, if Frid's read the script and still wants to be in the film then at least we can assume that the script is quality work and we can feel safe that our beloved DS is heading in the right direction.

Of course, that may all change once we see the finished product.

A substantial cameo by Mr. Frid would be fantastic ... something tasteful, erudite, perhaps professorial - would be perfect for him. Come to think of it, that could well describe the character of Professor Stokes! Now that would be a plum role for Mr. Frid!

This is excellent news! I'd love to see JF have a role in the movie.  I'd rather not see him as a caretaker person as others have suggested but rather as a  member of the legal community. Perhaps as a local judge or applelate judge.

But the caretaker was the best minor character!

But, I'd love to see Frid play Stokes.  Imagine if we got to see a whole lot of Frid in the movie!

Yes, a Stokes like character for JF is doable IMO.  Just thinking of JF being in the movie and my eyes are starting to tear up.  I get so emotional just thinking about this sort of thing nowadays!

if the film starts with the traditional vicki-arriving-in-collinsport-by-train setup frid could play the meddlesome older person on the train(a woman on the series)or hotel clerk mr.wells.

although with the whole "waitress" thing who knows if that's how things will start.
