FAMOUS Dark Shadows Fans!

Hey guys.  I know of several famous DS fans.  I wondered if anyone else knew of any others.

Here is my list:
Madonna (My girl, I squealed when I found this out)
Elizabeth Montgomery (not for sure if it's true)
Tim Burton
Johnny Depp
Quentin Tarantino
Joanne Woodward

Any one else??

BARBRA STRIESAND was a big fan. she even cast DAVID SELBY in one of her movies UP THE SANDBOX because of his acting in DARK SHADOWS. JACKIE KENNEDY was also a fan. WHOOPIE GOLDBERG stated she used to watch it on an episode of THE VIEW.

Kelly Ripa has mentioned on 'Live' that she used to watch it 'mostly under the covers' with her sister or cousin or someone. Considering her age I'm sure this was in the early 80's. ...and it scared her to death, she claimed at the time. Funny stuff.

kelly ripa was born in new jersey in oct 1970 so she was an infant during the last year of ds on abc. she would have been 5 or 6 when wkbs tv in philadelphia was showing the reruns in the mid 70s and could have viewd that station in new jersey. most likely she saw it in the early 80s on the new jersey network.

A Gilmore Girls episode had Lorelai and friend watching DS and liking it, so I'll guess that the Sherman-Palladinos, the couple who wrote most of the show, were DS fans, or one of them anyway.

Speaking of the Gilmore Girls ep, I loved the way Sookie (not to ever be confused with the Jersey Shore girl with the same name!) recapped what had been happening on DS for Lorelai.  [b003]

Yes, I recall hearing that the late Jackie Kennedy Onassis was a big fan of Dark Shadows.  In fact, I remember reading that when Dark Shadows actor Christopher Pennock was once walking through Central Park, he happened to meet Mrs. Kennedy Onassis, and she asked him for his autograph!  Talk about an A+ day for Mr. Pennock!

Actress Angela Bassett is also a big Dark Shadows fan, I understand.

This is awesome. Several of the people you guys mentioned I had forgotten about and several I didn't know of. I didn't know Angela Bassett was a fan! VERY COOL! :)

At least two of the '91 Series' stars had been fans before doing the show. Michael T. Weiss had watched both as a kid and in syndication - and Jean Simmons had watched the original run with her daughters. She even commented in one of the entertainment show interviews leading up to the '91 Series' debut that for her daughters watching DS came before homework or even anything else. Obviously she raised her daughters right!  [b003]

I had forgotten about Jean. I think she said that before Tea (which to the Brits is like religion) time they would set down and watch DS and if I remember correctly they were all in love with Barnabas!  I remember Micheal T Weiss saying he watched the show; however, I didn't know he watched it in syndication.  One has to wonder if there are any famous fans of the Revival?? 

I agree MB she did raise her girls right!

Several of the One Life to Live actors were Dark Shadows fans. Robert S. Woods was one. So was Robin Strasser.  Hilary Bailey Smith was an original fan and the show motivated her to become an actress. And she was thrilled when she got to work with Marie Wallace when Marie did a few episodes back in the '90's.
And Josh Kelly, who reminds me of Don Briscoe, became a fan by watching the reruns.
