The Lazy, Hazy, Plotless Weeks Of Summer
« on: July 30, 2002, 06:41:01 AM »
(...someone cue the opening voiceover music...)

It begins as another week of mind-numbing meandering for the viewers of the Great Show, for it is on this Monday morning that the episodes in question made me roll over and go back to sleep.

I think the reason Jeff Clark doesn't like Adam is because he feels threatened by the man-made man; after all, Adam has become a bigger braying jackass than even Jeff Clark--a trick I didn't know was possible.

Adam...sweetheart: the moment you and your genius brain figures out that everyone's life sucks in some form or fashion, the more human you'll feel--and less of a pain in the arse you'll be.

I gotta say, though--Carolyn Stoddard's the richest girl in town; all she could muster as a so-called gift for the big sulky manchild is yet another turtleneck from Ohrbach's?!

For shame!! :o ;D

And that long excruciating scene at the end, with Angelique wiggling around on that table for, like, 5 minutes, with all the "special effects"...

That scene needed for Julia to give it a sedative!
BARNABAS: Here at Collinwood, old hates don't die. They lie in wait for the innocent and unsuspecting...

QUENTIN: We're guaranteed to make you believe (spells) exist. Our entire family can be explained in no other way...

Most definitly!  After nodding off throughout both episodes, I woke up to that scene.  So so horrid.

And it's not going to get better during the week?  Ugh.

Angelique seemed to find it somewhere arousing herself; I just kept waiting for the porn music to kick in...you know: ching-wacka-ching-whacka-ching-wacka-ching-wacka-ching...

Kudos to Lara Parker's professionalism in these eps, however, despite the material she had to work with. One scene closed with a reaction shot close-up of her and the cue music record stopped and started (you know how it sounds when the record player is turned off mid-song? Like that) It was hilarious but she never missed a beat! As you probably know, the music was not added post production; it was inserted on the spot simply by someone standing off camera with a record player! I don't know how she kept from bursting out laughing - I sure did.

Oh, so true! But, now that I've stopped hee-hawing long enough to type, I wonder why Jeffy hates EVERY body else?!

*spits out frappuccino* LMAO!!!!!!!! It's so weird being home and getting 2 watch these "live" [as I call them]. I find myself wishing they were taped so I could FF thru the looong parts with Angie writhing around and all the ANNOYING shots of the machinery. It's like the ds people were saying "Look, it *is* genuine, and it's got kewl labeling on it too!" LOL ::) whatever.

Absolutely!

You can never say enough good stuff about Lara Parker, who got more over-the-top stuff to do than even Hall & Frid; but whether she was Josette's scheming handmaiden, Roger's beloved second wife or Nicky Blair's vampy slave, trapped inside K-Mart lingerie--Lara Parker always played Angelique in a masterful way; she might very well be the most underrated woman in the cast.

Totally agree with you Scout75!!  She made each part she played so believable, and just when you thought she couldn't play a different kind of character, along comes Catherine, (1841PT) and she played that one out great too.  It's too bad that didn't get to achieve more star attraction like some of the other DS cast members did after they moved on when the show was cancelled.  ;)

LOL Like Kate Jackson? *BEAMS PROUDLY* I just watched Charlie's Angels last night, actually. Aaand still got up for DS! Wahoo! I'm so sad that Nancy Barrett never did anything else, though. Or at least nothing that I've ever seen. I know she was in some other soap, and she was in a weird movie or some sort, but ...  :-/ that's it *le sigh*

Like Daphne said, I hate it when they zoom in on all the experiment equipment. My sister says, "They're just trying to brag about how hi-tech they think they are." Lol, some of those contraptions they come up with...(like what do they need all those chemicals for?)
