Diana Millay and William Shatner
« on: August 30, 2013, 03:55:49 AM »
Back in '11 I missed a few of the installments of the PBS series Pioneers of Television and tonight I was finally able to catch the one that focused on science fiction. Imagine my surprise that while the show talked about William Shatner's career prior to Star Trek, who should pop up in a photo with Shatner but Diana Millay:

Does anyone know what that publicity shot was from?

IMDB lists them both in a series called Arrest and Trial in an epislode entitled "Onward and Upward," but their roles seem to have been fairly minor.

I just spotted Diana the other day in an old TV show...honestly cannot recall which one though.  I think it was something on MeTV or one of the other retro stations.

Perry Mason perhaps? Just guessing for the fun of it.

Yep. It was Perry Mason. Dennis Patrick was also on an episode of PM, but I missed it.
I get a kick out of these guys who think they're so clean, when all the time they're trying to cover up their dirt.

Diana did at least two episodes of Perry Mason. One where she's Perry's client and another where she's actually the murderer.

CastleBee,

I spotted Ms. Millay in an episode of "Father Knows Best," in which she portrayed Bud Anderson's English tutor.  The episode had to have been filmed during the late 1950s.

I must say that as a teenager, Ms. Millay looked especially beautiful. [ghost_wub]

Yes! That was it - Father Knows Best...I knew it was one of those vintage shows. Thanks. Those retro channels are a great place to do DS actor spottings.

Keep an eye out for Diana on Dobie Gillis. She Playa a similar character to Tuesday Weld's self-absorbed Thalia Mennenger.

I had a feeling D Millay was ubiquitous on TV, and that I probably knew her more as someone who appeared everywhere on TV, than as Laura, but those are dim feelings from decades ago.
