Current Talk '02 I / New Poll Idea
« on: March 25, 2002, 12:43:34 AM »
contains SPOILER for 1970 Parallel Time...

Can we have another poll running at the same time at Roger's hair grabs?? Is that too much. . this one will go throughout the end of the series (well not 1841PT). . .I was watching some PT episodes the other day .. really wanted to see Dr. Julia kill Housekeeper Hoffman. . .that was really quite a subtle turn for our Grayson. . .and afterward Dr. Julia's talk with Willie. . he says something about **knowing** why she did it. . .Julia jumps right in, without missing a bear, "As a doctor, I've been intrigued by Barnabas and his condition for a number of years. ."  yea, right!  So. . .I'd like to keep track of the number of times Julia's feelings for Barnbas are mentioned, discussed or even alluded to. . . (I know I'll need to rewind to capture her whole intro--btw, would I count Dr. Woodard's teasing her as one of those moments?  Cuz I actually think that's when the idea popped into her head. . .??)

Maybe we should also keep track of the # of times Angie says she luvs Barney and then does something horribly attrocious to him or one of his loved ones within 10 mins??   ?!? ?!?

You really are a nutcase Ringo. . but you're "our" nutcase. . .so glad.

As far as the beauty mark/patch goes, the fact that it moved was actually historically accurate, albeit a bit out of date for 1795.  It was fashionable for ladies to wear patches of different shapes.  The shape and location of the patch meant different things.

Maybe she took matters into her own hands and started doing her own?

I have this theory that there were two sets of makeup people.  The ones who used the trowel approach and who were probably nearsighted and the ones who knew what they were doing  ;D

I had read that the moving beauty mark was accurate. . i'm curious now to what they might've meant and whether the makeup people or GH herself played with that?  I also think you're right. . .she must've said. . "give me that makeup case, I'm tired of looking like I dip my face in a vat of black eyeliner and mascara!!"

officially no, not that i know of. . .of course in fanfic world there are a number of theories. . .namely. . .Natalie was Josette's mother --not aunt. . . so it actually raises the 'who was her papa' question. . .(there has also been discussion that Grayson may have operated from this theory as background for Natalie & Josette. . apparently Grayson always tried to come up with a 'secret' for her characters.)

What was Hoffman's secret, one wonders?? hee hee

Current Talk '02 I / Amnesia Recovery:  A memory for Annie
« on: March 24, 2002, 06:11:12 AM »
How could I have forgotten this?

Anne, I remembered this today and thought I must share it with you. . . I was watching The Matrix with my roommate.  I started talking about how I hate that I love that movie .. I'm a big non-Keanu believer.  My roommate started ranting about his "acting" in Much Ado About Nothing with Kenneth Branaugh and Emma Thompson. . .I then recalled, quite suddenly. . .in the early 1990s when I lived in Washington, D. C.  I was an usher at the Lansburg Theatre, home of D.C.'s Shakespeare Company.  I ushered there for two performances of Much Ado About Nothing starring Kelly McGillis (Top Gun) and . . .. [shadow=red,left,300]David Selby![/shadow]  I can't believe I forgot that!  He was very wonderful. .quite humorous and very agile.  My memory is of one scene where is he eavesdropping on a conversation by hanging in a grape arbor. . .the audience was beside themselves with laughter.  .what a pleasant little memory to recover.  :o :o

A-Z, a List of Common Collinwood Tranquilizers by Merck.

I took Nancy's suggestion and emailed my thoughts directly to the DS Organization and here is their reply (excerpted)--

"Electronic registration - I only wish it were possible!

The 'cards' are pre-printed (by computer) for those who pre-register.  Elsewhere, I have watched 'cards' printed on-site for those who register at the door and believe me, it takes longer than printing the name by hand because someone has to go to the printer and bring the card back to where it is given out.  The physical layout does not provide enough space for a computer and printer where the registration takes place.

It's always difficult to keep the guests on time - they must be kept happy and sometimes they run over the time allowed.  It's a big challenge to keep the Festival on time and I admit it's not always possible.

I like your idea of a memorial photo and book for the families of deceased actors!

Space is limited for setting up tables at which fans can congregate.  Let's see what space will be available in Anaheim. ):

I loved Josette's (I though emerald green) eyeshadow with the dark eyelashes and her dark clothes made TLATKLS look EXTRA scrumptious ::)
Have a good weekend!

i'm sure there was a lot of emerald eye shadow in 1795. . .what tarts those French girls were. . .and Natalie with her ever-moving beauty mark. . .DS make up . . i got lots to say about the makeup.

And I'd like to hear others impressions of the makeup of the stars over the years.  I'll just go with my (don't roll you eyes!):-* favorite. . .Grayson's makeup. . okay
Julia's intro--boring duds and subtle makeup
Natalie-curly hair, still limited makeup, too much taffeta, and roving beauty marks

[shadow=red,left,300]Dr Julia Hoffman revealed--[/shadow]TONS OF MAKEUP! Eyeliner, big eyelashers, lipstick galore! Jewelry by the caseloads. . .too much eye makeup!  When I saw a scene of Grayson from 1980s on One Life to Live, I thought she was naked! where's all the eyemake up?? (see below)

Towards the end of DS though, they changed Grayson's  eye makeup from black to brown and its was so much nicer, very flattering and she looked younger. . . (see my icon left for example).

Now Joan Bennett.  .her makeup. . I can't trace a history like I can w/GH but sometimes it was exquisite and other times, like crayola's all over her face. . Who knows the history of the makeup artists on DS?? Do tell. . .

Hello Julia! New to board. Remembered this when you mentioned being in Paris. I have been trying unsuccessfully to find Grayson's film "Qui etes- vous, Polly Maggoo?" Was it only released in France? Any thoughts?

I did try to have some friends in France secure a copy of Polly Maggoo but since I was provided a videotape of it, I stopped looking. (And sorry no, I can't make a copy for you.)  It is hard to find since Klein was not popular here due to a Vietnam documentary, I believe.  Too bad for Grayson, 1 film rated X and another banned in the U.S., she had some poor luck, didn't she?

Current Talk '02 I / Way OT:  Price is Right-Disco?

Shake your Groove Thing

One more crazy European anecdote that deserves to be shared with the likes of ya'll. . .Sitting one morning. . overlooking the streets of Barcelona.  Eating a croissant, drinking a cafe, listening to my friend try to stumble around (we got home at 6 am and it was now 11 am).  He stumbles out, mutters, "That is an awful song to remake!"  I had been listening to the annoying little ditty as I wrote an email to Mommy but the tune had not registered with me.  it WAS a disco remake of the Price is Right and I am not f'ning joking man!
