It's finally possible to post hidden spoilers again. I discovered a new mod on SMF's Web site for a much simpler way of doing it, and it actually works with the forum's system. (And the ironic thing is that I finally figured out today why the previous mod wasn't working - but I ultimately decided that mod was much too complicated from an administration standpoint and it's much better to go with a simpler version.)
The best part about the new mod is that it uses the same spoiler tags that we had been using in Yabb SE and SMF 1.0, and that makes it completely compatible with all the spoilers that had been posted in the past. To use it, simply type what you'd like to hide in your post between the opening and closing spoiler tags, like so:
Something you want to hide. [ghost_smiley]
or use the Spoiler button (
) to insert the tags into your post and then type whatever you'd like to hide between them. Upon previewing or posting you'll notice a button in your post in place of what you'd like to hide, and all anyone need do is click on this button to display your spoiler:
Something you want to hide.
No more having to place your mouse within a box (or having to highlight text as was the case with IE
). What's also nice is that you can hide anything: text, images, links, etc. - and you can even nest spoilers within spoilers.
So, have fun getting back to posting spoilers that actually won't spoil anything for anyone unless they want them to.
