Snow days are always good days

References the joy of watching DS as a kid on a snow day...

I have to say that in '68-'69 when DS was moved to 8:30am and 2:30pm in my area, I was thrilled when there was a snow day and I got to see DS!

8:30??
And, 2:30?

Were there 2 eps per day? Or same ep, shown 2x/day?

The 8:30am show was a day behind. And the 2:30pm show was a week behind. And that separation was good because I not only got to see two completely different shows, I got to see where the storyline was going...

For its first season, our local ABC affiliate aired DS at 11:30 a.m., showing the episode from the previous day.  I went home for lunch in elementary school so I got to watch it.  Then the affiliate switched it to 3:00 p.m. CST on the day it was aired.  I got home from school just in time.

This is a strange way of programming a television show. Though I suppose if you could only catch one time and not the other, you at least had some flexibility in the pre-VCR days.
