Current Talk '03 I / Re:Random Thoughts on Quentin's Room etc.

First ... Istvan! Wasn't able to post anything when he was on, but I didn't want to let his appearance go by unnoticed. I think it's really sad that the actor was never credited, I imagine because it wasn't a speaking role.  Rather ironic since he actually had as much to do as many other principal performances on the show. I saw this actor in another movie once where he also played the "heavy." If my name weren't already Vlad, I might have changed it to "Istvan." (We have the exact same build, too!) :D

LOL!  I don't think Tate's creation (Alexander Cort) got credited for any of his eps either, probably for the same reason.

Speaking of the devil, Barnabas told Julia that Count Petofi had threatened to destroy the entire Collins family.  Am I just not remembering this?  When did Petofi make such a threat?

Do you remember the scene in which Petofi let Barnabas out of the coffin and demanded his help to get to the future?  He said he studied the Collins family history, rattled off some names, and Aristede arrived with flaming torches (you HAVE to remember the flaming torches!) to illustrate Petofi's threat to burn down Collinwood, and he added that Jamison's death would mean the entire Collins line would be destroyed.  Unfortunately for him, Barnabas countered that if the Collins family was destroyed, Petofi wouldn't have a way to the future.  I'm sure Robin describes it better in her summary for ep #821, but I think this is what Barnabas referred to.

Incidentally, there seemed to me more mangled and non-sensical lines in that scene in the rectory between Quentin, Julia (in shock on the bed), and Barnabas ...

I think much of the current storyline is nonsensical.  It sorta goes along with something Petofi said today after Beth's I-Ching trip-- "I am puzzled by the meaning of shadows."  Uh huh, we can relate. ;)

And wouldn't a man as tall as David Selby look ridiculous draped over a twin size bed?

There's a photo of him in which he's draped on a brass bed in the 30th Anniversay Alamanac.  Mmmm.  I'm sorry... what were we talking about? :)

O.K. you all are going to be glad when I am totally back on my feet and not bored to tears hanging around the house letting the dust bunnies take over.

Did I hear somebody mention bunnies?  :D

Why does Petofi keep Aristede around?
Julia asks "sex"?

Snort.

Glad you're up and around again, Birdie.  So now we know your random thoughts weren't caused by the fever. ;) These are too funny!

Thanks Midnite!   :-*  :D

Okay....why isn't the 'kiss' I put after Midnite showing up?

The kiss in the smiley listing was at that moment replaced by a smile emoticon but as you can see it's back.  MB is no doubt tinkering.  He doesn't have to be on the forum to be accessing the site, btw.

Deleted the first 'kiss' and then put it back....it's still not there.  What have I got...a dead spot?  :-

Okay...now I have another one...there should be a 'crooked' mouth basic smiley after "dead spot?....and there isn't.

See above re: MB. ;)

I'm sorry you're sick, Birdie, but these had me laughing out loud.

Feel better, dear.  But keep those random thoughts coming!

I can just imagine parking in NYC. While staying in the city over Thanksgiving, our car had a nice stay for $30/per day and we stayed for 4 days, 3 nights.

Ouch!  I thought LAX was bad...

Wait now...so color isn't on this actual board, but if we remember how, we can use it, right (or am I hallucinating??)

The same standard colors are listed to the right of the YABBC tags and over the smilies.

Sounds like a blast, Carol!!

LAFB, congratulations on your success!  Sounds like you could've made your own blooper reel.  Was your mom there when the light came crashing down?  Eek!

I still haven't seen "Qui etes-vous, Polly Magoo?", which I've been told is archived at a modern art museum right next door to where I live!  I was told I could request a private screening, but I've never looked into this further.

It's very amusing, Vlad, and how fortunate that it's so readily available to you!  I recommend you check it out.

So....you're telling me that the writing at this point is so hoplessly incoherent that I should just go along for the ride and stop trying to make any sense out of it?   ???

Sounds like a plan to me.  :)

And how about ghost Beth's sudden decision to appear dressed as a servant?  ::)

I right clicked, hit 'copy', but when I went back to board (I was still on), I could not 'paste'.

I hope you don't mind that I'm answering instead of MB.  You can't paste images into your messages.  To get an image to show up, it has to be stored somewhere on the net, and then you type the URL of that image into your message and surround it with YaBB image tags, which in essence link the post to the image.

MB provided you with everything you need to make the shamrock image show up-- all you have to do is copy and paste that entire line into your post.  Try it, and after the post is submitted the smiley will show up in its place.

Quote
waaa...why doesn't the YaBBa board thing tell me how to do this (it states to use for own personal use, and it's taking up ALOT of space on my harddrive)....

It does.  Click Help, then Posting, then YaBBC (for YaBB codes).  It gives this rough example:

Type This
Code: [Select]

Patti, this reply in that same Sour Grapes thread explains it:

The forum's system does that so that images that are wider than 548 pixel won't make the topics disappear off of the right side of the monitor screen for people using a resolution of 800X600.

The system was resizing Connie's storyboard because its original size would've widened the topic off the screen for most readers.  I posted it in the original size to demonstrate how she can do it, and so that 2nd larger storyboard image made that whole topic page disappear off the side of your monitor screen.

Somehow things from the censored word list as well as parts of HTML table code was appearing in people's posts where it quite obviously shouldn't have.

Oh, lovely.   >:(
