So Adam felt some compunction over lying to Carolyn - but not enough.
These days I keep thinking about Vicky's history on the show. She's been kidnapped and tied up in a secret room. She's been locked in a room that, though not secret, was rarely visited by anyone. She's been tied to a tree. They're all variations on the same theme, and yet this time around Vicky acts as though it has never happened before - not even a hint of "Oh, no, not again!" Today she reminded Adam of how he had kidnapped Carolyn before he kidnapped her, and I thought to myself: "A match made in heaven! Serial kidnapper and serial kidnappee! Could Jeff ever give Vicky that kind of fulfillment?"
I wish I could have seen Barnabas running hell-for-the-leather for Collinwood yesterday - although it really wasn't necessary: even without it, we saw a sufficient demonstration of his panic.
I like the room in which Nicholas shut Vicky up. It reminds me of the bedrooms in the cottage that my great-aunt had on Cape Cod when I was a child. Vicky's room is bigger, though.

Never! [ghost_cheesy] Vicki should have definitely dumped Jeff for Adam. [ghost_wink] And in a way Barnabas would have also had her because Adam has Barnabas' life force within him. It would have been a win-win all around. [ghost_grin]

true that vicki was indeed kidnapee numero uno...
but we also have maggie locked-up by barnabas, carolyn by adam and so on.a locked up ingenue was a major, major theme on the show.
but,yes,vicki was the queen. [ghost_rolleyes]
-
don't forget Grayson Hall
-
And Julia and Magda were no ingenues. [ghost_wink] But kidnapping female characters and/or holding them as hostages, regardless of age, was and probably still is a staple of soaps.
-
locked up ingenue
How 'bout the Trasks?!
-
Yes, indeed, women and men getting kidnapped and locked up - this was and still is a frequently used plot device on soaps! [shkdg]
Adam was having second thoughts about Vicki; but, unfortunately, Nicholas was able to manipulate him over to "the dark side" again. [ghost_mad]
Wasn't Nicholas' house Seaview - the house that Burke was going to buy for him and Vicki? [ghost_undecided] If that were the case, then Vicki should have been able to figure that out when she heard the ocean waves. But then again, Seaview was an empty house, and Nicholas' house was fully furnished, so I'm sure it looked quite different. If Nicholas' house and Seaview were indeed the same house, then that would have been quite a coincidence that Vicki was being held captive there! [winkg]

No, they could not have been the same house. The set used for the house Vicky loved was the set that was used for Roger's and Joshua's office, and also for Barnabas's bedroom at the Old House in 1795. The set used for Nicholas's house was the one used for Dr. Lang's office/living room and, if I remember correctly, for Tony Peterson's office, and, with some alterations I think, for Naomi's and Joshua's room at the Old House.
But I think that the two houses did share the same name of Seaview. And since both houses were apparently owned by the Collins family, I wonder how that came to be.
An afterthought: I was wrong. They could indeed have been the same house. We're expected to accept that Maggie looks like the portrait of Josette, so why should the fact that two houses look different from each other keep us from accepting that they're the same house and that they look alike to all residents of the Dark Shadows universe?
-
Lydia, can you recall when Nicholas' house was called Seaview? The name House by the Sea was commonly used on the show, but AFAIK only Vicki's dream house was Seaview.
-
Somewhere during these episodes I remember being struck by the same thought that EmeraldRose had, and my impression is that it was because the house was called "Seaview" by somebody. That's as close as I can get. It may be that I heard "The House By the Sea" and transformed it into "Seaview" without realizing it.

Now I'm picturing Blair hanging out with Richard Basehart--- he's certainly got the right last name to be a minion of Nick's. Maybe the sub's tied up near the house.
So, what about the house 1995 Carolyn lives in?
Is there some compendium of all houses on the Collins property? And is the Blair house on the grounds, or does it just happen to be a place the family owns, disconnected from the estate proper? The latter I think.

Well, here there be an unofficial map that was published in TWODS and posted before you joined us, Magnus:
Re:Map of Collinwood / Collinsport ?
Carolyn Fredericks (and Roxanne) lived in a shack at Findley's Cove, which I'm not seeing. For what it's worth, Seaview and Blair's house are drawn as the same building, though it seems unlikely that Vicki would stumble on the former where it's shown while she's simply on the way to town unless the poor dear really didn't understand the roads around the estate.
-
They showed the exterior of Seaview on the show and it looked nothing like Blair's house.
-
I had one thought about this show. How did Vickie manage to look so good after staying in the closet and why weren't her panty hose ruined? and so on ..... Since I never wore short skirts and had to move around in them. How did Vickie Manage it?
Back in Jr High and High School we got to wear pants.
Why doesn't people start wondering about Blair?
-
And at the risk of sounding crude...do all these kidnapped women get potty and shower breaks? I mean, where does Adam take Vickie when nature calls? Is there a fully functioning restroom in the shut-down wing or does he have to sneak her into the main bathroom?
-
I don't think Adam himself uses a bathroom.
-
Is there a bathroom even in Collinwood. We don't ever see one.
-
Everyone at Collinwood takes turns using a big litterbox in the closet. Liz is afraid that one day she will be buried alive in it.
