Zap2it called it "pastiche" [because it's inspired by Shelley's novel but based on characters created by Dean Koontz] ... (this link will take you to MB's post about the Hallmark version):
Alec Newman Trades Fangs for 'Frankenstein'
... but USA Network's upcoming adaptation of Frankenstein also boasts a DS cast member-- Ivana Milicevic in the role of Victor's wife Erika (Helios, he changed his name from Frankenstein-- the story takes place in the present day and the creator is now the monster).  It premieres Sunday, October 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, 8 p.m. CT, and will probably be repeated ad infinitum.

See http://www.usanetwork.com/movies/frankenstein/ for photos, bio and video clip of an interview with Ivana.

Also, her IMDb listing has several photos of her in the role.  Here's a sample:
Ivana Milicevic

This one isn't nearly as well reviewed as Hallmark's.  You've been warned.  ;)

I thought Tony George had been listed in one of the early 90s KLS books--the original DS companion, perhaps? as already past tense.  Let's hope my memory is faulty (once again).

I would never question your memory, Steve, but KLS' books are another story.  ;)  Seriously, he was interviewed in Soap Opera Weekly in 2003 in which he talked about his 80th birthday celebration a few years before.  Until then, it seemed to me he had vanished and I was worried he had passed away unnoticed by DS fans.  ShadowGram had a grainy shot from SOW, btw, in a recent publication.

I'm pleased to have his 2 TV Guide covers, but the other 2 Checkmate actors are, sadly, gone.  :(

His Simon & Simon ep from the late 80s aired last week on a local L.A. station and I hadn't seen it before so I taped it.  I can get a screen grab from it when I have a chance.  He played a villain, woo hoo.

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / DS alum was on tonight's Navy NCIS
« on: September 29, 2004, 06:46:51 AM »
If you were disappointed that the '91 series writers veered completely from having Barnabas kidnap and imprison Maggie Evans, then I hope you watched tonight's season premiere of Navy NCIS.  Ely Pouget played the kidnapped wife of a Navy captain who was snatched from her home along with her blind daughter, and she spent much of the episode bound, gagged, and tormented.

I'm sorry that I wasn't able to tape the ep, and if anyone did please feel free to post a screen grab or two or more.  Ely looked fantastic!

For some reason, episode #35 stands out in my mind as being the episode he appeared in.

I'm positive he was in #33 and 34 and have read that he was in 3 eps, so if it's 35 that sticks out in your mind, Jean-Claude, I believe you.  :D

I would LOVE to see Anthony George at a Fest!

Hope you had a fantastic birthday, Selby D. Pearson!

(Sorry for being late.  :()

Excerpt from book review in Entertainment Weekly Online from 9/10:

"Hinton hopes all the hoopla will generate some Hollywood interest. She has fond memories of standing alongside Francis Ford Coppola on the Tulsa sets of The Outsiders and Rumble Fish."

 :o

It also states that she spent 5 years researching and writing HH and was signed to a two-book deal with Tor after several publishers passed, provided she get out and sell herself.  She's about to do just that as she begins a 12-city tour.

Ah, Dennis Patrick is in it too.  They must've chosen this one because there are DS fans at KDOC; yeah, that's the ticket.  :P

I didn't realize that DP and JK worked on another show together.  :)

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 II / Cagney & Lacey now airs in L.A.
« on: September 27, 2004, 06:26:09 PM »
Cagney & Lacey begins a 10 a.m. weekday run today on KDOC-- an O.C. station that broadcasts all over the L.A. area.  If you're seeing this, it's on now with Barbara Cason (Mrs. Dennis Patrick/Mrs. J in HoDS) in a featured role.  And, of course, John Karlen appears as Harvey Lacey.

Usually, KDOC will start a show with its pilot, but for some reason it began this one with a 2nd season ep.

BTW, did anyone else spot the glitch where one of the characters slipped into their copyright-challenged alter-ego?

LOL, yes, and both first and last names.

I think it was natural to resolve the plot point mentioned by Jean-Claude since it's a novel about Willie, and it's a given that I was picturing a young John Karlen (sigh) throughout.

It could be that this board is too tame for me as people become easily offended at debate.

With all due respect, stefan, you did tell him that he should say how he felt.  But to tell you the truth, I thought he might be taken aback by it, as I might be in RL if someone were to start addressing me with "I personally don't care if you... or not," but I didn't remove it because I was pretty sure it was NOT your intention to be rude.  It's an unfortunate fact that sometimes we say things that aren't interpreted the way we intended.  :-

Josette seems to have got around quite a bit before Barn showed up, especially during the Laura Collins Storyline.  However, having at this point only read brief synopses of the the Pre-Barnabas eps, I am not sure which appearaces involved a physical manifestation.  I read that KLS (uncredited) played Josette in Ep 70, but is it known what actresses played her at other times?

You might have read about Josette the painter (of Laura's portrait) in #149 and Josette the rescuer (by sending David to the aid of Dr. Guthrie) in #184; that was Rosemary McNamara.  After Barnabas showed up, Natalie Norwick stood in as a sobbing spectral Josette a couple of times-- in #515 and #666 (eek).

For Trekkers, Norwick was also in the memorable Star Trek about Kodos the Executioner.  McNamara has appeared on Law & Order, not that I'm obsessed with that show or anything.  ;)
