Robservations #924
And if you'd care to look back, the first WP discussion topic for this ep:Re: Discuss - Ep #0924

Dark Shadows is very "cosmopolitan" in these episodes.
-
Yes indeed!
David and Michael play a game called Wall Street. Hmmmm.....
Julia and Angelique are actually friendly as A. reluctantly agrees to part with her husband's wedding present, the notorious "View of South Wales."
-
Not that anything is impossible but when I first saw this as an adult I was a little dumbfounded when Ange was revealed to be a top NY model and that no one came across this fact in Collinsport. I felt the only way it made sense was if this Ange was not the one that came from hell to become Cassandra.
She is a top NY model, right?
-
It seems that Angelique was in NY at the same time Cassandra was in Collinsport, unknown to her that her future self existed at the same time. If that makes any sense.
-
It's official, joey, my head is spinning! But I think you are right.
-
On Dark Shadows, time is an extremely fluid concept. The 1897 Angelique retains memories of her time as Cassandra and it is that Angelique who becomes Mrs. Rumson. We don't see the scene on camera but apparently Carolyn and Elizabeth retain memories of Cassandra. So does Professor Stokes, as Julia has to concoct some convoluted explanation for Angelique/Cassandra/Valerie being in 1840.
It doesn't make sense but it is part of the show's canon. The time traveling characters, Vicki, Quentin, Angelique, Roxanne, Julia and Barnabas, are full of storyline contradictions.

Lara VO? My notes say: "What re CDT's studio? Was she there, why?" ??
How on earth could South Wales be transferred to another canvas? Would the paint hold itself together on its own, while being "transferred"? What game are Michael and David playing? Wall Street? It doesn't even look like a game.
Is Maggie's room Vicki's old room, and was it also Josette's 1796 Collinwood room? It has Josette's secret door, but I don't think Vicki ever discovered that passage, if she had this same room. By Sam Hall.
I think Joeytrom is right about this Ang coexisting with Cassandra, but being in Cassandra's personal future. Angelique has to have gone from 1968 (Cassandra) to 1897 to 1968 or before, becoming a model and reaching 1970 from there the regular old slow way. Unless Ang popped from 1897 to late 1969 and used magic to become an instant "top model", which must be what happened, come to think of it. So I've changed my mind.
What a strange thing for the writers to accept viewers to accept, and work out, in either case.

Maggie's old room is Vicki's old room, which was Elizabeth's old room (before she was married), which was Josette's room at the New House.
The kids ARE playing Wall Street, which was a real board game. There's a newer game called Panic on Wall Street. How times have changed.

Thanks DL, sorry about the unannounced absence... Wonder if Wall St was thought good training for a Collins...
