Here's a link to the Actors' Equity home page, featuring a pic of Conard Fowkes, who is Equity's national treasurer, and who coordinates the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program.  Thought some of you might like to see "Connie" as he is today.

This may sound morbid but I'm making damn sure my hubby doesn't throw out all my DS stuff when my time comes. I've added a codicil to my will so that all my DS stuff(DVD's, videos, fan fiction collections like TWODS or Karlenzines)are donated to my local library for other DS fans to use.

Those are my plans, too!  Great minds think alike, as they say. ;)

Between taping off SciFi and buying the MPI tapes, I have all the episodes, too--except for a couple I missed when my VCR acted up and didn't tape a day.  To get even more fanatical:  even though I had all the 1897 tapes from SciFi, I broke down last year and bought them all from MPI, so I now have MPI volumes 21--55 and 93--200, and of course the first three DVD releases (which replaced my MPI volumes).  I've been eyeing the collections' series on MPI to replace my SCiFi versions before MPI takes them off the market. . .I should have bought them when MPI ran a special late last year, but my car needed repairs instead.  Of course, I'll continue buying the DVDs--they'll be my entertainment when I retire (still a good 20 years off)--just imagine me sitting in front of my TV 8 hours a day watching DS DVDs instead of going of work.  LOL.

This guy obviously wasn't "average", and probably had some problems, but I wouldn't think that just because he's a virgin at 48 means he's gay and denying his sexuality or something.  (Is that what you were saying?)  I mean, I would think there are a decent number of people who go through life and have never had sex with someone.  No??  I dunno.

Connie,

Maybe I'm naive, but I guess I can't imagine anyone going through life without some sort of sexual relationship--unless they're a nun or a priest (and we know that's not really true, is it?--sorry, couldn't resist it!)  I'm not saying this guy is gay, but that could be part of his problem (or he's a closeted priest?)--I hope not, though--I don't think gays need anymore wackos among our ranks.  ;)

Cops said the heartbroken Jenkins, who lives with his parents, told authorities he was still a virgin and had been "saving himself for her."

Excuse the cynic in me, but a 48 year old male virgin who lives with his parents and can afford to give his "girlfriend" $95,000 sounds like someone with a lot of other "issues."  First off, why does he live with his parents if he has that much money?  Then, why is he a virgin at his age? I mean. . .I'm gay and definitely NOT a virgin--at least with other men--but I guess some people might consider me a virgin because I've never had sex with a woman.  Is he an unhappy homosexual who has denied his sexuality and become a "born-again" hetero, you know, Exodis International, or whatever that group is who claims they can change gays?  I know--I wasn't at that convention, and I don't know that guy--but there's something VERY not right here with the big picture (and DS has so little to do with it!  We're all very nice, normal responsible adults--at least those of you I've met/talked to/emailed/etc.)  Too bad the press is working the DS angle.  But it's only my opinion.  ;)

Aw, gee, folks--I almost forgot about my birthday--seeing as I'm now moving past middle age and into senior status (I think I get my AARP discounts when I'm 50, right?--just four more years to go--LOL.)

Thanks much for your kind wishes-and I'm counting down to NY and the next DS Fest.

Love,

Calendar Events / Announcements '02 II / OT--The Night Stalker
« on: December 30, 2002, 04:27:02 AM »
From Fangoria online:

A story on Variety [online]. . .reports that one update we might actually want to see is unlikely to come to pass: a Disney-backed big-screen version of KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER that David Fincher was interested in directing, from a screenplay by his SEVEN scripter Andrew Kevin Walker. Sadly, no deals have yet been signed and this project may never happen.

Might this be the big-screen version DC has been shopping around for a few years?  Too bad it's probably not to be.

Hi, Gang.  Guess I'll add my two-cents.  It seems the comments so far are related to Italian culture.  But I've always thought that Magda was a gypsy of Hungarian or Romanian (are they the same countries now?  I can't remember) descent.  Might the myths and religions of that culture be different from the Italian culture?  (I had a great- aunt who was a "gypsy", but I can't recall exactly which country  her ancestors were from.  I also have an uncle (my Dad's brother) who is a hunchback--guess my family has some real gothic/horror-types in it.  Maybe that's why I learned to accept and respect each and every human being despite their differences and ancestry.

Well, if any of these ever turn up, I'd love to see them!

And if these 8mm films do turn up, maybe they could be included as extras on the DVD!! ;)

Current Talk '02 II / Re: OT>ABC Soaps (for Gothick/Midnight)
« on: November 28, 2002, 04:36:05 AM »
Glad to hear you watched OLTL Midnight, and it sounds like you still watch it.  It's the only soap I've ever watched besides DS--unless you count the few months I watched THE EDGE OF NIGHT after DS was cancelled back when I was a teen.  (I remember something about a ghost on EON.)

Gothick--I gave your letter and Grayson audio tape (finally) to Shelly about a month or so ago.  I don't know if she contacted you;  she's been pretty busy lately--I understand she's singing in the EPCOT Candlelight Christmas program during the holidays, and she's playing Kate next spring in KISS ME, KATE at the Mark Two dinner theater here in Orlando.  Overall, Shelly is very happy with her life and family these days, and doesn't miss her OLTL work.

Current Talk '02 II / Re: Show Buyers
« on: November 18, 2002, 05:52:13 AM »
I bought the first VHS releases way back in 1989/90--and I added tapes as I found them in retail stores.  Finally, within the past two years (when the tapes dropped to about $10 each), I ordered through MPI volumes 93 through 200 (featuring the lead-in to 1897, followed by 1897,  Leviathans, 1970PT, 1970, 1995, 1840 and 1841PT.)  Now I'm working on the DVD releases.  (I taped off SciFi--many of which I still have if I don't own the MPI releases, but I HATE commercials and fast-forwarding through them.)

Current Talk '02 II / Re: Marvelous in MAME
« on: November 12, 2002, 04:14:48 AM »
I'm glad to hear that David Selby was so good in MAME, but since the name of the show is MAME--who played the title role?  A star?  Also, just because I'm curious, was this a professional production (i.e., full Equity contract) or a semi-professional or community theatre show, with David on a special Equity contract?

Thanks,

Brian

(BTW--both y'all ladies look great in your pics with Selby!!)

Darn it!  Wish I had taped that Twilight Zone ep! Sounds like a good one.

I don't know your time zone, but it's being repeated at Midnight EDT--my VCRs all set.
