Oh, man, I haven't thought of some of these movies in a while.
Here's the ones I don't think should be on the list (i.e., I don't think they're 'horror/spooky' in the traditional sense):
Flatliners
Silence of the Lambs
Alien(s) (all the different ones)
The 'new' Ghostbusters (I don't consider the 'real' Ghostbusters a scary movie, it's a fun movie)
That having been said, I've comment on here a couple of times about "Interview with the Vampire"; for me, it's completely about Kirsten Dunst's amazing rendering of an 'immortal', at such a young age.
I love love love "Cabin in the Woods"....but, if you have that, you MUST include "Cabin Fever".
OMG..."The Shining" and "The Exorcist".....
Here's a little known fact; I worked at a movie rental place, and I'd put up returned movies. There wasn't really any artwork on the cover of "The Strangers". I finally brought it home, and my eldest daughter was way down the street, and my husband at work.....this goes in the tally of movies I cannot watch without a grown-up present (see the two right above).
"The Omen"....nope, it's got to be the original with Gregory Peck.
I haven't thought of "Chuckie" in a very long time!
"Lost Boys" very good...between the younger, non-vampiricals and the hot teen guys, good flick.
"Poltergeist" extremely good.
"Wrong Turn" is one of my daughter's and my favorite.
But, ALL the "Saw" franchise should definitely be included....the way you have 2 people from the previous; it's genius.
Hate, hate, HATE "Carrie".
Wouldn't have thought of it, but, perhaps "Jaws" can stay. It's a fantastic movie, but, I'm a purist (spooky).
Did I miss "The Ring"? That is a SCARY movie!!
RE: everybody was doing drugs...well, then, where's "Count Yorga" and/or "Blacula"? I know someone did a movie in the 70's a re-do of "Frankenstein" (I want to say Michael Sarazin (sp), but, I'm not positive).
