Hello, Dark Shadows Fan,

ShadowGram (SG), The Official Newsletter & News Source for Dark Shadows
(DS),
announces the following breaking news in this Online DS News Update
"bulletin."

--- SG LAST-MINUTE ANNOUNCEMENT: JOHNNY DEPP GUESTS ON "OPRAH"
--- DAVID SELBY & BEN CROSS STAR IN "DRACULA"
--- "HOUSE OF DS" FILM TO AIR
--- GEOFF MILLER: MEMORIAL TRIBUTES INFORMATION:

**** JOHNNY DEPP GUESTS ON "OPRAH" ON THURS., MAY 5

SG was just notified Johnny appears on the "Oprah" talk show tomorrow,
Thursday, May 5. Please check your local listings for time and station.

SG's reported extensively about Johnny's upcoming adaptation of "Dark
Shadows," directed by his longtime collaborator Tim Burton. Both are self-avowed
DS fans from childhood and Johnny's dream since then was to portray
"Barnabas." SG announced the initial project in July, 2007, and has steadily
informed and updated plans for the movie. Filming will begin very soon at London's
Pinewood Studios and on ocation throughout England. SG will update future
confirmed news.

Johnny is known for his iconic rapscallion character "Captain Jack Sparrow"
in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie franchise. "POTC 4: On Stranger
Tides" opens May 20, so his time on the "Oprah" show should focus on that
highly-anticipated release. Yet his enthusiasm for DS, as his next filming
project, may come up during the interview..

**** DAVID SELBY & BEN CROSS STAR IN RECORDED-LIVE "DRACULA"

David (1966-71 Quentin) and Ben (1991 Barnabas) will team for the first
time in a limited-run presentation of "Dracula," based on Bram Stoker's famed
novel. SG previously announced this event, but now updates about Ben's
participation.

"Dracula" will be at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd.,
Los Angeles, CA 90049. Performances are May 18-20 at 8 pm, May 21 at
2:30pm, and May 22 at 4pm.

Ticket prices are $20, $36, and $49 and available only through the L.A.
Theatre Works Box Office: (310) 827-0889 or _www.latw.org_
(http://www.latw.org)

LATW's plays are recorded as they happen before a live audience in the
radio show format. Actors are not in costume and there are no sets. The cast is
seated onstage, holding bound scripts. They step up to microphones to
perform their lines in character. Appropriate sound effects are created and music
is added as the play unfolds. Audience reactions are recorded at the same
time. The radio show format allows each actor to interpret his/her character
through the spoken dialogue, enhanced by the music and sound effects.

"Dracula" is part of the LA Theatre Works' 2011 series. David has appeared
in numerous LATW productions; he also is a member of the Board of
Directors.and on the Artists Advisory Council.

LATW Publicity: "Before Twilight, before True Blood, only one vampire
commanded 'the children of the night.' In this blood-thirsty tale of unholy
terror, Count Dracula (Ben Cross) slips into Victorian London with a cargo of
his native Transylvanian soil - so he can rest between victims. The city seems
helpless against his frightful power, and only one man, Dr. Van Helsing
(David Selby), can stop the carnage. But to do this, he must uncover the
vampire's lair and pierce his heart with a wooden stake. All performances will be
recorded to air on L.A. Theatre Works' syndicated radio theater series, which
broadcasts weekly on public radio stations nationwide and can be streamed
on demand at _http://www.latw.org/_ (http://www.latw.org/) .

Press Release: "L.A. Theatre Works is a non-profit media arts organization
based in Los Angeles whose mission for over 25 years has been to present,

available cassette/CD recordings of their and many other actors' radio plays.

**** "HOUSE OF DS" MOVIE TO AIR

The 1970 "House of Dark Shadows" theatrical release marked the first time a
daytime soap opera had launched a full-length feature film. Rated GP for
Mature Audiences (1970 ratings system) for strong violence, it was a major box
office hit for MGM Studios that year and led to a second movie, "Night of
DS,' in 1971. ((More information in SG print issues.))

TCM (Turner Classic Movies) will show HODS at midnight on Wed., May 11, as
part of a marathon of Joan Bennett's films. Check your local listings and
please share any publicity or other media coverage with SG.

Actors from the TV series - Joan Bennett, Louis Edmonds, Grayson Hall,
Thayer David, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Nancy Barrett, John Karlen, David Henesy,
Jerry Lacy, and Dennis Patrick among them - re-created their TV characters or
portrayed other characters in a condensed telling
of Barnabas' release from the coffin after almost 200 years. The vampire
terrorizes Collinsport and his decendants as he seeks the reincarnation of his
long-dead love Josette. Dr. Julia Hoffman tries to cure him - and finds
herself falling in love with the vampire, who's being hunted by
Prof. Elliott Stokes.

I wonder if he talks about Shodows?

In a word, no. But then, Depp was on for less than 3 minutes.

What is interesting is that Depp's appearance on Oprah, which was a long shot at best to have DS mentioned, is announced in this update with great fanfare, yet Eva Green's cover interview in Harper's Bazaar, which is promoted as something in which she "shares all" about the DS film, isn't announced at all. True, it's the European version of the magazine - but it's not like it won't be available in many parts of the US - and it's available today.

I love people that live in a different part of the country. You can save us lots of time. Only three minutes, just about
the amount that she shows on the preview.

He and Oprah had a glass of wine.
Then they took the audience to see the new Pirates. No interview of any kind.
He looked great, and I really loved Oprah's pony tail look today!
