Photo of Barnabas and the infamous fly...
« on: January 22, 2005, 01:28:14 AM »
Well I finally found the photo. It is a 5x7, but I thought I'd better make it smaller, because I don't know if there is a limit to the size of photo's you can post.

I now know how my mother got it. It was a free gift for ordering some of the Marilyn Ross paperback novels from an out of print book company.

I hope it shows up well on here... Keeping fingers crossed.

I don't know if there is a limit to the size of photo's you can post.

Scans shouldn't be any wider than 528 pixels - otherwise they'll be automatically resized to 528. And a single attachment can't be larger than 100KBs. If it is, it'll be rejected by the system.

Great photo, BTW.  ;)

Why would they send her a photo from a blooper?  Was it supposed to be funny or what?  Hmm...

I have no clue really. It was a couple of years ago when she received this photo for ordering the books. Maybe they thought they were being unique. Who knows... Book companies do all sorts weird things to draw attention to themselves. Although it didn't work because they are out of business now.

I think it makes Barnabas seem more frightening. He is dead afterall.

I get a kick out of these guys who think they're so clean, when all the time they're trying to cover up their dirt.

Even as an enormous JF fan I still get a kick out of that darn fly. In fact, I see flies buzzing around lots of times on Dark Shadows over and around Louis Edmonds, JF and others. One comment - in that scene (I have it on one of my MPI tapes) it is so painfully evident just how focused JF was and how petrified he must have been of the camera. I bet an old TV/soap pro like Tony Geary (Luke Spencer from GH) would have nonchalantly brushed it aside without missing a beat from the scene or allowing it to distract him from character or mood. I don't think Jonathan Frid could do that.

No... Sorry I don't.

The copyright on the back of the photo says 1967 Dan Curtis Productions... Maybe that will help you find it if the date is correct.

I agree.  I thought it was kind of creepy when I first saw that scene.  Flies like dead things.  8)

Oh that's perfectly all right FireRose...while gazing at the photo I believe I can now recall what caused Barnabas to react this way, it was when Barnabas felt Dr. Julia Hoffman must be done away with, Barnabas was speaking to Willie that it might become necessary for him to kill the good doctor. >:D

In addition to JF having to deal with flies (see, even the flies couldnt' help being attracted to him  ;D), some of the other characters on the show who also attracted them were Joan Bennet, KLS and I think Chris Pennock.  I'm sure there were more.

Yep, Jerry Lacy.  In one scene as Rev. Trask a fly lands right on his mouth!  :o He then goes "ppfft" to blow it off his lip!   [laughing11]
