And I'm sure, Grayson, being the trouper that she always was, insisted that she do her own stunts and hang from the poll herself! ... Yeah, right!!  [easter_grin]

There's actually an interview from the Seventies where she talked about GARGOYLES and apparently somebody did suggest or ask her if she wanted to do that medium long shot where she's hanging from the wire. "Not this kid!" was the response. I think she said it was a teenager in a wig. For the close-up, she said the shot was accomplished while she was "hanging over the side of a bed."

I just love the scene where Mrs P dashes into the sheriff's office and goes IMMEDIATELY for the bottle of whiskey he keeps in his desk drawer. And knows EXACTLY where that stuff is.

I've always said Grayson had brilliant comic timing and it's a shame she didn't get to do any for-real comedy on the tube or the big screen.

I love this flick.  It still holds up today.  Fortunately, it can be found free and complete to watch all over the internet.  About once a year I watch it.

To this day Bernie Casey's Gargoyle still freaks me out! And I really enjoy the film too - but mostly for Grayson's performance, which is really a hoot. Like Gothick said, it's really a shame she didn't get to show off her comedy chops in an actual comedy...

I'm surprised none of the DS stars ever appeared on The Carol Burnett Show.  Nor did they ever do a skit  about it (imagine Carol playing Julia and Roger playing Barnabas in a very exaggerated way).

I see it's again right now. Apparently March is Gargoyles month on Comet.

It's weird--Grayson's upside-down face (that is, viewed as intended) looks like she has a slight smile. Why is she happy? But turn the picture around (to see her "upside-up") and it's a neutral expression.

[pointing-up]  That is interesting! I never bothered to turn it "upside-up" before...
