[laughing11], Magnus and Uncle Roger!!  [thumbright]

I don't know how I never realized this before, but Barnabas never got any new love interests after Roxanne...

I never gave it much thought either. I wonder if there was ever any serious discussion about Donna Wandrey coming back to the program if it had continued. The Grayson Hall fan club newsletter said that Roxanne was going to be in the PT1841 story. Obviously, that didn't happen. I wonder if Donna would have continued with the show on a recurring basis, like Humbert or Marie or if this was the end of her tenure.

([pointing-up]  Good questions. The funny thing is that if she's talked about those subjects at the Fests, I've never heard about it or saw it...)

I've never heard the topic raised either, MB. Was the pairing with Frid well received at the time? I thought that the Roxanne fixation came out of nowhere. Were the fans in general supportive of the relationship or not? [easter_huh] [easter_huh]

(As I recall, letters to the various magazines weren't overwhelmingly pro or con. Many fans were very happy to see Barn's Josette obsession end - but they wanted him with Julia, not another SYT...)

Interesting. I don't know if they ever would have paired Barnabas and Julia off together, at least not permanently. The whole basis for their relationship was about them not getting together. Moonlighting and Rhoda paired their leads off much too quickly and were forced to separate them, damaging both shows.

(Exactly! But that never stops the fans from hoping.  [ghost_nowink])

In one of Adriana Pena's, she had Julia finally give up on Barnabas and marry another doctor. Not long afterwards, Barnabas developed an attraction for a middle-aged woman. Poor Julia!

([pointing-up]  Poor Julia, indeed!!)

I don't remember Julia's reaction when Adriana later paired Barnabas off with Sheriff Patterson.

([pointing-up]  Well, at the very least THAT should have explained a lot to Julia!!  [nodassent])

Back story (no pun intended) was that George had been all alone since his long term companion Dave Woodard passed away.

Adriana's take on Dark Shadows was certainly unusual. A lot of her stories focused on things that were seldom discussed directly on the show, sex and politics

(Yeah, I'd certainly say so!!  [easter_cheesy])

Megan was still around because Willie staked her in the stomach by mistake. She was running a detective agency. Roger had gone off the deep end for some reason. Carolyn had become extremely cynical because she was about to reconcile with Adam until he decided to run off with Elizabeth. Maggie had become a state senator but was also a closet heroin addict. That's just what I remember off the top of my head. A lot of Adriana's stuff is on fan fiction.net under the pen name Maryland Rose.

([pointing-up]  All of that is most certainly very different from what we saw on the show. But who's to say it may not have brought in big ratings?!  [easter_undecided])

I wonder how much (if any) of this would have gotten past the ABC censors. [easter_huh]

([pointing-up]  They might have surprised us!! Though probably not given how they reacted to an innocent "woman of the house" remark directed at Willie from Jason...  [easter_rolleyes])

Daytime TV seemed to get away with a lot more stuff that nighttime TV did back then.

([pointing-up]  True - but apparently the ABC censors flipped out over any gay innuendos, even if they were only implied and not even direct.  [easter_rolleyes]  So it's unlikely the Dr. Woodard/Sheriff/Barnabas twist would have ever made it to air.  [ghost_nowink])

I wonder if Frid would have gone along with the idea.

Interesting question...

Too true!!
