The name comes from an Avengers paperback that I read back in high school entitled The Drowned Queen, where Steed and Tara encounter such colorful characters as Valerie Goldspangle, the "booming battleaxe" Mrs. Thwait-Funderpump and the ill-fated Mr. Funfinger. Names like that tend to stay in my memory indefinitely.
