Thanks for the B'day wishes.  Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and great 2017!

I heard the rumor about the festivals last year but, it never occurred to me that the merchandise would go away. I'm thinking of making my own DS calendar with photos I took at the Tarrytown fest. I really hope they don't end. Makes me sad.

I have been buying a Dark Shadows calendar (from Dark Shadows Festival) for I don't know how long.  Yesterday I emailed them to ask when the 2017 calendar will be available.  I was floored when I received a response from them a bit later saying that they will no longer be doing them.  Does anyone know what happened or if any other organization sells them?  2017 is going to be really bleak without my DS calendar.  [ashamed3]

Have a wonderful day. [occasion13]

I like your idea Gerard.  They really should consult with you!

Inefficiency? at a Shadows event?
Ours is not to fathom the ways in which the Fests work - only to deal with those ways when presented with the situations. (And then, of course, to bitch about them online...)

I generally have no problem with that last part.  [ghost_grin] If I could have changed anything, it would have been the line situation - individual (or somewhat separated) lines for each celeb would have been nice so you could pick and choose.  I have autographs of several from the past so, being able to skip past some could have cut waiting time down for everyone.  Also, agree that it would be wonderful to have had a room or area dedicated to dealers/merchandise.  The best set up along these lines that I ever witnessed was at the 2001 NYC fest.  Huge selection of merchandise too.  Overall though, I had a great time.  I stood in one long line on Saturday and was pretty much exhausted after that - though, had it not been so tiring it was kind of entertaining watching people trying to cut in line like 6th graders in a school lunch line - talk about a blast from the past!  Still didn't get an autograph from Nancy Barrett which I regret. Also sorry I didn't get a chance to speak to John Karlen but, I was very happy to see him there!  Got to say hi to Prof. Stokes and Midnite which was great.  MB, however, still remains a mystery to me after all these years.   [ghost_wink]

Current Talk '16 II / Re: Why Do We Hate Certain Characters?
« on: June 14, 2016, 01:38:33 PM »
I think for me it was a draw between Trask and Angelique.  The trouble is, I've come to actually enjoy the villains as much as the heroes and heroines over the years so, I really can't say I actually hate any if the characters. I know Roger was supposed to be a self-centered jerk but, even as a kid I liked him.  Louis made it hard not to.  [ghost_wink]

I admit that this celebrity death kind of hit me hard. As many can also say, I grew up with her - from her TV show to "Valley of the Dolls", and her later work.  I remember way back in about 2nd grade when her show was running, one of the kids in my class told me that I looked like her. I think it had more to do with my hair but, I always remembered that.  I never had the pleasure of meeting her at any point, but she always seemed like a very down-to-earth, kind person.  Very sorry she is gone and I hope she rests in peace. I feel very bad for her family.

Calendar Events / Announcements '16 I / More Tarrytown/Fest Questions
« on: March 14, 2016, 08:25:38 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation concerning travel to and from the airport (White Plains)...cab, shuttle, cost, reliability, how far ahead can/should I book...stuff like that. Basically, any info is appreciated.  As I mentioned in another thread, it's been 12 years since I did this and it was to and from another hotel.  [easter_grin]

I know it was a three day fest so, it had to be 2004! Thanks! It was looking kind of sketchy earlier this year but, looks like I'm finally going to be able to attend. I was just wondering how long it had actually been since the last time I did. Hard to believe that it's been 12 years (and 2 jobs) ago!

Calendar Events / Announcements '16 I / Tarrytown Fests of the Past
« on: March 14, 2016, 05:02:11 PM »
Does anyone recall the years of the festivals that were held in Tarrytown between 2002 & 2006 (or where I can find info of this kind)?  I know some of the east coast festivals during that period were held in places other than Tarrytown.  I have attended two festivals so far - one in 2001 in NYC and the second in Tarrytown.  It was just a few years later but, for some weird reason, I can't recall the year.  It's driving me nuts! It was held at the Marriott and I know that John Karlen attended that year.

Hi Patti,

I find this interesting because I had a similar issue at Christmas.  I ordered a tunic style top for my sister way back in November...did not pay attention to where it originated. It didn't show up in a month's time so, I went online to check it out.  Yep, China. Unable to properly track it so I waited a bit longer.  It finally showed up. However, the size was really weird - number-wise it was 3 sizes larger...actual size however, was about two sizes smaller. I called Amazon and asked how I could get a refund (no info in the packaging).  Without hesitation (as if they were use to this) they said they would issue a refund.  They did but, I was never given any info on how to send the package back. The company was no longer listed on the site and that was pretty much the end of it.  I have the feeling this was a major Ooops for Amazon. This was my one and only problem - if you could really call it that - I have ever had on that site.
