Rare Dark Shadows set photos and DS cameraman interview!
« on: August 22, 2021, 10:21:09 PM »
I was delighted and floored when I received an email from a gentleman who informed me that his uncle had been a cameraman on the original DS, and that he had some behind-the-scenes photos he was willing to share.

While the uncle in question wishes to remain anonymous, he was kind enough to answer some questions via his nephew.

Please enjoy these wonderful, rare photos and some fascinating insights from the perspective of a DS cameraman!

Penny/Danielle,

Wow, these are amazing photographs. And, that DS crew member’s recollections of the show were fascinating. ( Although, I’m reminded that Sebastian Shaw once chided Carolyn Stoddard-Hawkes, saying that “fascinating” is “a dilettante’s word.”  Ouch!)

I enjoyed seeing the candid photographs of the DS actors and film crew. Now, when I see the name Rudy Piccirillo listed in the closing credits of a DS episode, I can associate a face with the name.

Many thanks or posting this “fascinating” article and much success with your outstanding DS podcast.

All the best,

Bob, Moderna aficionado

I finally got the chance to read all this. What a fantastic article and what great photos!! Thanks so much for sharing them, PennyDreadful - but then the things you do on behalf of DS never disappoint.  [ghost_nowink]

I do have to say though, anyone who might be familiar with the DS crew and what they went on to do later on may be able to deduce just who Robert Saccone's uncle is. A particular credit in the article is a HUGE hint!  [b003]

And what a surprise (NOT!) that the techs made themselves scarce when DC was around. Given DC's on set reputation, it's hard not to imagine many not behaving almost like scared puppies hiding under the bed...

Yay! Thanks for checking it out! I was so happy to share these, and thrilled that they were so generously passed along by Robert.

lol!!! Yep, I had the same exact thought and got a chuckle when I read that reply!

Thanks for all you, Midnite, and Dom have done to keep this forum going. To this day, I love going back into older archived threads and researching various topics.
