Robert Rodan Cheer Commercial on DVD
« on: March 28, 2005, 03:46:32 AM »
Canadian based Madacy Entertainment
has released a 2 disc set called
TV Favorites:
Classic Commercials.

This wonderfully nostalgac set includes Robert Rodan's Cheer commercial, which aired on DS in the 60s. Rodan plays a very Mr. Spock like alien in the ad.

And for those who have certain, uh.....FANTASIES
about Robert Rodan, his X rated 1969 film
The Minx can be ordered on VHS via
Something Weird Video.(it's a softcore film, BTW, and was his acting swansong)

That's really cool about the commercial.

But DEAR GOD, Adam[/i] was in a porno?!!!  :o [6184]

I'm sorry but alll I can think of is sewn-together Adam and the great King Missile song...

Mods, please delete link if this is considered offensive.  It's a funny song though.

We don't police links. People are free to click on them at their own risk - or not.  ;)

As for Rodan's movie, I'd posted a newspaper ad for it back in this topic:

... here's an ad for The Minx when it opened at a local drive-in ...

A screen capture from the Cheer commercial was also posted. Unfortunately, though, that post has yet to be restored...

I have that DVD set, and BTW, the mother in the ad is played by Maureen Arthur, who played Hedy LaRue in the film version of "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying".  Also, that Cheer ad has been shown on TVLAND during the past few years. :)

I wouldn't The Minx  a porn film.
It's the kind of film made between 1968-1972, (1972 being when hardcore porn became "mainstream" via Deep Throat)
The Minx is sexploitation trash that promises lots of explicit sex but fail to deliver.

The Minx is a bad soap opera featuring LOTS of frontal nudity but no actual sex.
Rodan shows his bare tush & his bare feet--foot shots were often used in films like these to suggest sexual acts that weren't actually happening.

It's a bad movie, a real bad movie, worth seeing for the RR butt shots only.

Ah, thanks for clarifying.  I'm relieved to hear that he didn't have to resort to doing porn to make money.  It sounds pretty funny actually - especially the part about the feet! LOL!

Now if we can only find Lara Parker's Wink commerical and Don Briscoe's soap spot...

Penny D., last year at the fest after the dinner, they had a reel of old coming attractions trailers with DS actors, such as John Karlen's "A Small Town in Texas" and Deniece in "Willy Wonka", but in the middle, without warning, came "The Minx, " all faded colors and lots of flesh. Probably an old drive-in trailer. I remember KLS was somewhat embarrased. (We were lucky to be at her table.) The audience as whole rather howled at how bad it was, at one point the voice over said something like, "See the seamy underworld of Wall Street" while the film showed two people fighting out in the woods! And yes, we had glimpses of Adam without his green sweater. Parental Guidance suggested!  :-X

For those who care, the musical soundtrack to "The Minx" has been released on CD.  A favorite store of mine called "Twisted Village" carries it.  So far, I've resisted the temptation, although a sticker on the CD claims that the music is actually fairly worthwhile, in a fun, late Sixties lounge-a-go-go sort of way.
