That's cool.  I am not familiar with WHISPERING SMITH.   A couple of months ago, I saw one of Diana's interviews for the DVDs several years ago where she spoke of doing a lot of television in the early to mid 1960s.

I probably watched this as a kid, as my father watched virtually every western that was on. Especially since this one starred war hero Audie Murphy. I have no memory of the show though

I'm another who's never heard of the show. But Diana is always interesting, so I'll certainly check it out. Thanks for the heads up, patrick!  [ghost_smiley]

I've never heard of it, either.  The only "whispering Smith" I know of in legend was an elderly man dying in a homeless shelter somewhere apparently in the midwest who stated he was Captain Smith from the Titanic and had survived, living a life of impoverished anonymity, hiding in seclusion.  It was the last thing he "whispered" to the caregiver before dying.

The series is apparently loosely based on an Alan Ladd movie of the same name.

Well, wasn't exactly Diana's best guest role ever (she had better parts on Bonanza and The Rifleman among others) -still it was nice seeing her....almost like a lost episode.

almost like a lost episode.

A good way to look at it.  [ghost_wink]

A couple of months ago, I saw one of Diana's interviews for the DVDs several years ago where she spoke of doing a lot of television in the early to mid 1960s.

indeed she said she had done hundreds of episodes of television. unfortunately much of it would have been live shows, televised plays, soaps and other programming from the period that would/could not have been saved and thus is lost to the sands of time.

at one fest they located and aired a show called "Stella Crozier" she had done in the early 60s.
