[cheesyb]
Fill in the blanks: Frid - "Well, you've dealt with Curtis - and quite successfully I might add during the shooting of the film - so you know what it's like. But can you believe that he said that if I didn't ________, I could _______?! ME?! Well, I told him he could ________!!"
-
do a sequel, ........shove that wolfs head cane up my arse. ......have no problem doing the same thing with the moon lamp in the drawing room!!
-
[pointing-up] I LOVE IT!! [stfl] [thumb]
-
Do everything his way
I was free to go back to Canada
See if Burt Convy is still available
-
[pointing-up] [laughing11] Perfect!! [cheers]
(And every time I see Burt Convey on an old game show, I still can't believe he was ever considered. He's a great game show host - but I so cannot picture him as Barnabas!! [noway])
-
He had a fair amount of success in theatre, including the Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof. He also appeared on Love of Life at one point, as a rapist. I can't quite picture that somehow. And I think that he would have been extremely miscast as anyone's cousin from England.
But he achieved true immortality as one of the members of the 1950's doo wop group The Cheers, for the priceless song Black Denim Trousers and Motorcycle Boots. A Buzz Hackett song to be sure!

I can totally see him as Barnabas Collins. Young. Handsome. Believably romantic. And hopefully without the bangs, lol. Now whether he'd've last past the thirteen weeks is another story. Maybe DS would have lasted longer without a permanent Barnabas.
-
([pointing-up] I've never seen BC act, so I could be wrong, but somehow I don't see him bringing the emotional depth that Frid did. And without that, it's probable that Barnabas wouldn't have lasted. But you bring up a good point that maybe DS would have lasted longer without Barnabas. Quentin proved that it was possible to introduce another huge character. But of course that's all a discussion for the Current Talk board...)

True immortality? Maybe. But that might be pushing it just a bit as I doubt many people other than you remember it. [ghost_wink] I've never even heard of it at all - not even after tracking it down on YouTube!! [ghost_nowink] But it is a Buzz Hackett type song, so too bad they didn't use it in the Blue Whale on the show when Buzz was around - if only as a wink to Convey...

Oh, I was being very tongue in cheek with that assessment. I did locate on YouTube, along with an even stranger version by Edith Piaf. In French, no less. Apparently, it was a big hit in France. [ghost_rolleyes]

[shkdb] Just when you think that the world can't get any stranger!! [b003]

Indeed. First Jerry Lewis. Then that! [ghost_rolleyes] [ghost_rolleyes]
