Congratulations to us on surpassing 250000 posts!!

We actually surpassed that mark yesterday but I've been so busy lately that I didn't even notice until today. And thanks so much to everyone who has posted on the forum and helped us to reach this milestone. It certainly couldn't have been accomplished without you.  [9050]

But when it comes to the actual 250000th post, it was made with this post by none other than Uncle Roger:

I'm sensing a potentially developing pattern here.  [wink2]  And there also may be a pattern to where these milestone posts are being made because MagnusTrask made the 100000th post on the "Complete This Phrase / Fill In The Blank(s) - Year 2" board (back when those boards were sorted by years rather than storylines), Sara Monster made the 150000th post on the "Complete This Phrase / Fill In The Blank(s) - Year 4" board (also back when those boards were sorted by years rather than storylines), and Uncle Roger made the 250000th post on the "Complete This Phrase / Fill In The Blank(s) - Vicki/Jeff-Cassandra/The Dream Curse-Adam/Eve/Nicholas" board. Only the 200000th post wasn't made on a Complete This Phrase / Fill In The Blank(s) board because Uncle Roger made it in the '"Dark Shadows" Returns in October (in new comic form)' topic. So, it's going to be fascinating to see where the 300000th post will be made...

And Uncle Roger, you'll note that your custom title now reflects that you are both the 200000th and the 250000th Poster. Maybe you should start aiming now to also be the 300000th Poster!  [lghy]

Wow!  Does that include the posts from the original format back in the nineties?  Who remembers that one?  It was through some server or website or some-internet-something-or-other that many other message boards on various subjects used.  It's probably defunct and gone by now.  It was during the era when virtually everyone used AOL as their main internet connection (and it was dial-up; listening to the modem screech and often getting a busy signal and having to redial, redial, redial to get connected) and there were the other DS message boards, such as the one on AOL, the newsgroup, et. al.  Do any of them exist anymore?  With a quarter-million posts now on our beloved, surviving message board, I'm feeling nostalgic!

Wow! I guess that Britney isn't the only one entitled to say Oops,  I did it again. Thanks so much! Over the last year, I've found myself in several DS Facebook groups. Some are great, some aren't. But this board is special to me. It's home.

Here's hoping that the next milestone is to reach 1,000 members!

Unfortunately, none of the posts made on the VantageNet version of the forum (which was active from October 1998 through the end of December 2001) were able to be recovered/transferred here because VN went out of business without any warning whatsoever to its users. With the exception of about 720 posts that were made on an interim forum and transferred here before this version was officially opened on March 1, 2002, the 250000+ posts this topic celebrates were all made here on this version of the forum.

I almost got in on the ground floor on this site then, except there were no new memberships taken then.  My nouveau DS fandom was triggered by getting most of DS in 2002 at one shot cheaply, that year.

Vantagenet!  That was the server!  Thank you, MB, for helping one of us old f*rts who are trying to remember the "good old days" of servers and message boards (for various topics) of days long past (along with that dial-up).
