([pointing-up]  What's interesting is that in an article written by Frid himself to the fans after DS had been off a few months, among other things, he claimed Bramwell had been his favorite DS character to play. Of course, in later years, once the Fests became popular, he then said that both Barnabas and Bramwell had been the same for him. But then, in TV interviews done in the early '90s and while Frid was pissed off at Jim Pierson for the MPI tape incident and he was no longer attending Fests, Frid said some pretty awful things about DS, though when he came back to the Fests we were all supposed to forget all about that, too, so...)

At the first DS event that I attended, Shadowcon 1983, Frid did say that his favorite character was indeed Bramwell. And this was before the festivals began and before Pierson was around.

([pointing-up]  One does have to wonder how much Pierson likes to control what the actors should and should not say...)

Very much so! He said some pretty tactless stuff to Donna Wandrey some years back, that she wasn't a big enough name and that he didn't need her. Forgetting the fact that Donna had supported the festivals since 1984, years before her episodes were available for viewing. They have achieved a certain reconciliation but Donna has made it clear that she only attends because of the fans. Period. I suppose I should be surprised but if he'd mess with Frid, he'd mess with anyone

I can't be 100% sure but I don't think he (or anyone else, for that matter) would have attempted to mess with Joan Bennett.

([pointing-up]  I've never heard anything with regard to her.)

Joan may have been a force to be reckoned with. She was a long established star who was able to get a few things in her contract that the other cast members never would. Her presence in ABC daytime gave the network a lot of free publicity and a certain pedigree that it had previously lacked. And I think there's a good chance that Joan may well have had better connections with the network than DC did.

([pointing-up]  I wouldn't be surprised if all of that were true.)

DC may have been arrogant and insufferable at times but I don't think he was stupid.
