These posts often remind me of a game of telephone--
we started regaling David Selby's superb performance and ended with Connie's relatives giving her grief about her sleeping hours.

Don't get me wrong--I love the tangents, since we all learn so many interesting facts about each other, but it still gives me a giggle sometimes to watch the twisty progression of the discussions.

Love, Robin

Thats what I love about this board.  When you open a thread, you never know what you might find.  Now with your new post, we can talk about tangents.

Here in Maine, we never get snow.  I am wearing my seasonal sleevless polyester dresses but always keep a fire in my fireplace, just in case.  Of course, I'm just kidding.  We expect a white christmas here, too.  Unfortunately, my 7 year old came down with an intestinal bug and has been very sick since Saturday night.  He just asked me tearfully if Santa won't come to our house because he is sick.  I reassured him Santa will come no matter what.
Everyone stay healthy and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!(felt like shouting).

I thought Quentin's display of cowardice was well played and appropriate.  At various times, he has tried to harm others such as his grandmother, Laura, and Barnabas.  He used the occult against Laura and Barnabas rather than face them because he was afraid of them but frail Grandmamama he had no trouble putting his hands around her throat.  He is the true bully.  He is very brave when he feels protected and in a position of power but shows his true colors when he feels defenseless.  I do not blame Edward for abandoning him.  Quentin stole his wife and abandoned Jenny.  Quentin has behaved in a despicable manner and has probably done so for years.
Angelique being unavailabe is par for the course.  She likes to cause as much turmoil as possible for her master's entertainment.

Everytime I see Magda, I think of an "I Love Lucy" episode.  In my head, I hear Lucy singing " I am Queen of the Gypsies, the Gyp, Gyp, Gyp, Gypsy, Gypsies".

My 13 year old son told me the salute with the first finger and pinkie means "rock on".  When I was in high school, it meant "go to H*ll".  However, I found a colonial curse in a book where you used the same hand gesture as Magda but you held your head to the left while sticking out your tongue and it meant "be hanged".

Wow, Ringo!  You make a great Santa.  I hope your efforts bring in lots of green for the local Humane Society.  Our town has been trying to raise a big bundle to build a brand new shelter.  Unfortunately, the library and local hospitals are also seeking big bucks and there is only so much green to go around.  Since my cats are not welcome in the hospital or the library, I give my donations to the shelter.

Congrats, Luciaphil.   Here is a library story.  I went into the library for a library card but did not check out any books.  I got an overdue notice a week later.  The books were all childrens books.  I told them I did not check out any books.  They said they would look into it but would not issue me a new card.  A month later, I got another overdue notice but for different childrens books.  I went into the library to ask for a new card and again was told they did not do this.  Just then, the head librarian walked by and asked what was going on.  The librarian told the head librarian that I wanted a new card.   He gave her a withering glance and said issue the lady a new card.  Luciaphil, learn the art of the withering glance and you will get all that you want in this life(either that or a new library card).

Happy Birthday, Connie.  The same birthday as Mr. Frid.  How did your mother manage that bit of planning?  I hope you have a wonderful day.:-*

Happy Birthday to Mr. Frid
My favorite Barnabas scenes are too many so I'll just pick one at random.
When he goes to Angelique's bedroom for "the old lets be friends" routine and they end up in a passionate embrace.  If that same scene were done on todays soaps, they would have ended up in the sack.

We had a fine Wal-Mart in my town in Maine.  Unfortunately, they decided to build a SuperWal-Mart across the street.  They bull-dozed a beautiful forest to build it then left the empty building across the street.  Two ugly parking lots and a boarded up building.  A little less beauty in Maine all for the sake of profit and low paying jobs.

Hi Ringo,
JCPenney is selling Beatle ties.  Very Stylish.  My stodgy hubbie almost bought one.  Check it out.

I saw Carnival of Souls when I was a teenager.  It scared the living daylights out of me.  It is very similar to a Twilight Zone episode.  Inger Stevens is on a lonely highway and keeps seeing this same hitchhiker everywhere she drives.  Does anyone happen to know which was filmed first?  Did Twilight Zone rip-off the plot of Carnival of Souls?

I read a fanfic that had Barnabas as Sarah's father.  If the show had stayed true to being a traditional soap, it would have been an interesting plot angle.  I think it would have been even better if Sarah was Joshua's child but not Naomi's.  Joshua's mid-life crisis fling with a younger woman.  It's easier to imagine an old goat creating a child late in life.  Naomi appeared far too old to get pregnant.

Dear Castlebee,
I am so sorry to hear of your great loss.  Your story is almost a mirror of mine except my father didn't die.  He just walked out.  My mother died the day before her 60th birthday.  I am glad to hear you have a sister.  My sister and I keep our mother's memory alive.  After the sadness passes, you will find remembering all the warm and silly stories with her a comfort.
