How fun!  I want a Barnabas Bobblehead for my dashboard nodding his agreement wherever we go.  He will give me someone to talk to when I'm alone in my car.

Current Talk '03 I / Re:Petofi's Nose

O.K., that's the last time I'll mention his nose, since everyone seems to think this aspect of costuming and characterization is trite ...

Thayer David's performance, as always, is sterling, but I have to say that when I first viewed 1897 (during the last SciFi run), I was so distracted by the whole wig/glasses/etc. getup that I had a difficult time even noticing his performance.

This viewing I've been able to appreciate Mr. David's acting in this role, but I personally prefer his other characterizations to this one, perhaps because the others are more realistic and believable people (Ben Stokes, Professor Stokes).

In trying not to be distracted so much by Petofi's wig this time, I've come up with a theory:  the wig is not a product of the costume department -- it may actually be Petofi's accessory because he's bald!
I don't know, Vlad, but I'm kinda having fun with this.  I catch myself staring at Petofi's nose instead of listening to the dialog.  I agree the costume is distracting(too much costume, too much make-up, too much sweat, etc.)  Petofi always looks like he needs a shower and some deodorant.

What a treat to have such a festive color for the boards!  Thank you :-*  Are there any other colors available for other holidays?  Just curious?

Happy Birthday, Patti!  What a great day for a birthday.  Of course, I hope you like the color green.  Green party hats, green icing on your cake, green ice cream, green balloons, green wrapping paper on your presents, etc.

Gerard,
I hope all this talk about pain didn't make you nervous so I will pray that your pain is slight and your recovery swift.  However, I think keeping your mind on KLS fantasies will speed your recovery. ;D

Carol,
You poor thing.  You have to lie down flat on your stomach, as if the surgery wasn't  torture enough.  If I lived near by, I would offer to read to you.  Maybe your library has some books on tape that someone could pick up for you.  I will keep you in my prayers and hope you feel better very soon. :-*

Thank God, I missed Angelique's bitchfest on Beth because that's just painful to watch. Of course, I also missed a chance to finally figure out exactly where Blondie's head was at when she decided to get engaged to Quentin. I was with Petofi there (I can't believe I'm writing that) in saying the hell? until he concluded that she was in love with Quentin.

Then he suggested that they might form an alliance, implying that it would be an alliance in every sense of the word and I nearly vomited. Scary visual picture. Make it stop, please.
I think Angelique deserves to wake up beside a sweaty, fat old man in a poodle haircut.  This makes me think of the poem with the line "have some Madeira, my dear".
Thanks for the column, I always enjoy them.

I have a feeling that if they HAD chosen to show the Rectory exterior, it would have looked more like YOUR idea of it than mine, Cassandra Blair.  Nothing was ever TOO gothic for this show....and pretty little Puritan chapels aren't NEARLY spooky enough!!   [ghost]

raineypark
There is a little clapboard church on a road I take to Freeport.  It is very spooky.  It has a little graveyard next to it.  It is a very tiny church that is not used anymore but is an historic landmark.  During the day, the church looks lonely and sad but at night it looks creepy.

If Barnabas' new digs is a rectory, it means it was part of a Church property.....in which case I hope someone deconsecrated it before he moved in!!  ::)

A church old enough in 1897 to no longer be in use probably would have been constructed before Victorian High Gothic came into vogue.  Especially in Maine, I'd expect it to be the classic white, tall-steepled church ubiquitous to all of New England...and the rectory would look similar.
I have to agree with Raineypark.  Tiny little clapboard churches are all over the Maine landscape.  They are very drafty and plain.

My 7 year old son was laughing so hard at these new "yellowbabies", he said his heart was bursting.  He always got a kick out of barfing yellowbaby but his new favorite is [toilet].  Thanks for all the new "yellowbabies".

Current Talk '03 I / Re:If There Was No Sam Hall on DS

So, in other words, Grayson introduced Sam to DC? Interesting.
Wasn't it really then that SHE got HIM his job?

IMHO, I think T. David could've been the 'Watson' to Barn's 'Sherlock'.

Patti
Very interesting, Patti.  Prof. Stokes as 'Watson'.  I think Prof. Stokes would not have any qualms about calling Barnabas an idiot and giving it to him straight between the eyes.

Happy Natal Anniversary, Bob the Bartender :-* I don't drink so I'll raise a toast in your honor with a "shirley temple" or a "roy rogers" ;D

« on: March 06, 2003, 11:00:18 PM »
Someone may have commented on this elsewhere, but just how believable was it that the Amy (or anyone) should discover the letter ON JUST THE RIGHT DAY??

Yes!  I agree Vlad!  Of all the days,  Amy gets to finally play a normal child and just happens to "accidently" hit the magic button on the drawer while searching for something for her doll!  ::)  Funny how things happen on DS. ;)

Cassandra[/font]
Yes, Amy did what she normally does. She hides a very important letter behind her back and lies to one of the adults.

Thank you, Cassandra ;D  Penny is very tiny.  She is over a year old and weighs in at about 5+ pounds.  She holds her own, though.  My two other cats are huge.  Molly is a whopping 17 pounds and Peaches is a Maine Coon(very large cat).  Thats why I chose Penny for my avatar.  Molly and Peaches would never fit into such a tiny picture.  All three are former shelter kitties.

Thank you Midnite, MB, and Dom.  I wish to express my profound appreciation for all you do. :-*  I have been around through several boards but never had the courage to post until recently.  The only reason I joined in was because the board became closed to outsiders.  I came to the board one day and I felt like I had been locked out of my car then I realized by not joining up that I actually  had forgotten to buy the car.  I'm glad I joined in time before my window of opportunity had closed.
Midnite,
Have some of the old posters been locked out because of closed registration?  Whatever became of Jase?  His posts were absolutely hysterical.
