Playing on his child like simplicity Barnabas was able to escape by pointing out Adam's shoelaces were untied, making Adam to look down at them.

Playing on his child like simplicity Barnabas was able to escape by pointing out an ant crawling on the floor, making Adam decide to follow it to see what its home looked like.
