I had a strange thought.  Quentin in his bright yellow shirt, is this how Charipansy saw Q in the future, in RT 1970, when Petofi induced a vision?  I remember we saw Q in a bright suit we never saw him in, in RT.

Like her real time counterpart, Angelique is extremely impulsive and unprepared for the results that her spells bring. The fact that it does bring Maggie back to Collinwood is almost an afterthought.
Barnabas reverts to form and tries to control the situation. This Elizabeth isn't as trusting as her counterpart. She seems like she is capable of handling the current crisis quite well. She does seem to think that Quentin's second marriage was a rebound relationship. She seems to like Maggie well enough, though she's not going to put her own position in jeopardy.
Anyway, Maggie and Quentin are reunited and Angelique is going to really wreck havoc now.

While Quentin is having his heart attack, Barn tells Elizabeth and "Alexis" to wait outside the drawing room, stereotypically fearful of female hysterics. Once everyone knows that Cyrus is on his way, Elizabeth has time to wonder who this stranger is (they hadn’t met before and she’s never seen the portrait) and what right he had to take such complete and effortless command of the situation. Barnabas puts on his courtliest manners, addresses her as Mrs. Stoddard, and introduces himself as a descendant of the “original” Barnabas. Since he’s a relative, however distant, Elizabeth allows him to escort her from the drawing room.

Elizabeth introduces Cyrus to Barn. "Alexis," horrified that her spell has gone too far, hangs all over Quentin until Cyrus sends everyone out. Inexplicably leaving his bag in the foyer, Cyrus opens Quentin’s shirt to examine him, and we get the teeniest glimpse of chest hair (of which there is far too little on this show) as he puts his ear to Quentin’s chest. Cyrus gets up to shut the drawing room doors, then opens his doctor’s bag (which has teleported into the drawing room). With some difficulty he manages to extract his stethoscope.

Once Cyrus emerges and announces that Quentin hasn't got much time left, "Alexis" races upstairs and undoes her spell.

Meanwhile, Quentin is still screaming with pain. Over Barnabas’s objections, "Alexis" rushes into the drawing room. Cyrus has finally administered an injection, and Quentin is now resting quietly. He will not die, Angelique insists. I don’t think wishing will help, he tells her (little does he know), adding, With each new attack, Quentin gets worse--he has only a few moments left.

Now that Quentin is resting, Elizabeth tells Barn a little bit about Quentin and Maggie's difficulties, and Barn urges her to call Maggie. Elizabeth says, I’m sure Quentin has wanted to see Maggie before, but he has so much pride. Pride? Barnabas wonders. Or is he still in love with Angelique? You know so much about it! Elizabeth observes, but he modestly says, I’ve just been listening very carefully. Elizabeth says, I thought at first that Quentin married Maggie because he couldn’t bear to be alone. Now I don’t know--but I do know that Maggie loves him. So saying, she picks up the phone.

Maggie is about to mail Quentin a letter about getting a divorce when she gets Elizabeth's phone call. Instantly she crumples up the letter and prepares to leave. Welcome back, KLS!

Angelique is still hanging over Quentin while Cyrus takes his pulse. Cyrus says Quentin is weaker, but Angelique reminds him that an hour ago he said Quentin was a goner. Cyrus covers Quentin up again and stands up to face Angelique, bristling as much as Cyrus can bristle (which is almost imperceptibly) as he asks, Are you criticizing me? Of course not, Angelique replies, but gets him to concede that there is some hope. Entirely forgetting Cyrus, she kneels where Cyrus has just knelt and touches Quentin’s hair. Oh, I never thought I would see him like this... helpless, she murmurs. He is still so young. So pale. Quentin was always the strong one. Cyrus turns to look at her as he hears her saying things that the sister of Quentin’s dead wife has no business saying, let alone knowing. Others... others gave into weakness, she murmurs on, oblivious, but not him. He always fought so well. You talk as if you know him well, Cyrus finally comments. Angelique realizes she’s said far too much and covers up by saying, I just feel as though I do. You’re lucky, Cyrus comments. It took me a long time to get to know Quentin, as is true with most people. [As Angelique leaves Quentin and moves toward the camera, her earring falls off.] Still upset, Angelique sighs, I wish there was something that someone could do. It’s all up to Quentin now, Cyrus replies.

Ange rushes out of the drawing room before Elizabeth and Barn can get any info out of her. Barn is starting to wonder who "Alexis" really is--but not wondering enough, I'm afraid. He does note that it was "Alexis" who suggested calling Maggie, but we know why.

Angelique performs a get-well charm in the study by lighting seven candles (pale blue this time) on her aunt’s candelabrum of death and invoking the fire to lift the spell she’s put on Quentin. Just after she’s extinguished the candles, Elizabeth walks in and finds her in the dark. Returning to her “Alexis” mode, Angelique explains, I thought that sitting in the dark would help me feel better (!). We’re all under some stress, Elizabeth agrees and tells her, There’s been no change in Quentin’s condition. Barnabas is sitting with him, since Cyrus was called back to the hospital for an emergency. [So what’s Quentin with his nearly fatal heart attack, chopped liver?] She gently suggests, Since Mrs. Collins will arrive any moment, it might be best for you to stay with your aunt Hannah for a few days. I can’t help remembering that your presence was the reason for Maggie’s leaving. But “Alexis” insists that she must stay till the crisis passes.

Maggie arrives with her little blue suitcase (perhaps Trask is getting her other luggage from the car), but the foyer is empty. As she looks about her, Barnabas emerges from the drawing room. He is stunned when he sees that in this time also, Maggie looks exactly like his lost Josette. At first Maggie thinks Barnabas is the doctor, but he tells her that Quentin is sleeping and introduces himself with a modest smile. Elizabeth comes out from the study, and Maggie throws herself into her arms with thanks. Angelique looks with actual longing down the hall, sad at being left out, and decides she has to see her Hated Rival. Maggie is disappointed to learn that Quentin didn’t ask for her, even though Barnabas and Elizabeth explain that he hasn’t said much of anything and has had great pain. Quentin may not want to see me, Maggie warns them. I’m sure he will, Barnabas says encouragingly. Now Angelique joins them. Of course “Alexis” has already met and must greet “Mrs. Collins,” who addresses her as “Miss Stokes.” Maggie decides to sit with Quentin, and Barnabas follows her into the drawing room [we get a quick glimpse of an overhead mic]. We’ve now done everything we could for Quentin, Elizabeth tells Angelique.

Maggie walks over to Quentin and kisses his forehead. Overcome, she turns away, not wanting him to see her in tears. Quentin starts to wake up, and Barnabas quietly speaks to him. Maggie turns back to Quentin--who suddenly shouts at her with what strength he can muster, No! No! No, she must not stay in this house! Get her out of this house! Get her out, get her out of here! Maggie keeps moving toward him and says quietly, Quentin, I... Quentin, I have come to stay....

I suppose it was just part of the routine, the usual on-the-spot decisions the director had to make... Oh no, we just taped the last scene with the bag left in the foyer... now we need it in here... just bring it in, no one will ever notice....

There certainly were a lot of  moments like that! Plus all the overhead mics, stagehands on the set, wobbly staircases and all. That's what gives the show its own special brand of charm, at least for me.

I notice JF tripping over his lines more than usual that it is very distracting. Apparently in PT when you have a severe heart attack you stay at home lying around on the sofa.  We have a KLS sighting. And she is back.
you know there's a whole wing that's closed off all the time; the west wing, I go there lots of times

All the actors might have had a little more time to memorize their lines during the movie shoot. I imagine the daily grind of the TV show was really tough on them. With KLS back, everyone has returned to the show, yay!
