My intention isn't to put a damper on the festivities, and I don't doubt that the poster was just having a little fun, but my primary concern upon seeing it was with the precedent it sets for the forum. I realize that the picture is not pornographic nor explicit and that it was taken from a scene that's available to anyone with access to the movie, but speaking realistically, its appearance here is far from the context of the movie, and this IS a discussion forum, and it's my belief that more explicit photos of the actors may make some visitors uncomfortable.

While we've never claimed these were "family" boards, I've changed the image into a link since no warning was provided as to the content of the post. And the point I'm making and that I hope you'll understand is that the forum administration doesn't embrace the concept of posting more explicit nude photos of the DS actors (or of anyone else, for that matter) directly on the message boards and sincerely hopes it won't occur. Thanks!

I've taken it upon myself to log on under LAFB's name and remove the message and link. The picture was not posted without my knowledge and I take full responsibility for any lack of judgement. I've always thought it a beautiful, innocent picture and neither I nor LAFB would want to contribute to setting any sort of precedent. That angle never occurred to me.

Connie, I can understand why you might have felt the need to remove the original post, but honestly, that wasn't necessary. It's just that other DS actors have done more explicit roles, and some readers of the forum might feel uncomfortable should captures of that nature be posted in the future. However, we didn't really have a problem with the Selby photo per se - only the precedent its display might have set - so that's why the post had been edited to provide the link to the photo rather than directly displaying the photo itself. It's forum policy that we don't police links or take responsibility for what people might find should they follow them, so simply allowing the link would have covered any sort of circumstance that might come up in the future should someone try to post a far more explicit capture from any of the DS actors' films. ;)

And, Connie, I've moved the post you had replaced it with to its proper place in the timeline of this topic.

Now everyone should be able to check out the link to the Selby photo, no matter when they might come across it. And with the forum reopening to guest traffic shortly, who knows how many people that might turn out to be? [wink2]

I removed the link for a reason. I didn't want my capture of David Selby even remotely associated with any discussion of pornography, explicit photos of DS actors, (didn't know there WERE any - lol), or turned into some sort of permanent "salacious" link. A sweet picture should not be turned into a cheap sideshow. There are absolutely no "hard feelings" and no one's feeling badly (at least around here, lol). :)

That was certainly the farthest thing from our intent, and I seriously doubt that the Selby photo would be viewed that way in the future. ;) That's one of the reasons I made a point of saying that the reasoning behind using a link, rather than having the photo display directly, really had little to do with your photo. Sadly, though, even an innocent act can often have unexpected consequences should someone misinterpret its significance. And unfortunately there are people in cyberspace just waiting to take advantage of the least little opening they see - particularly when they feel they can spin a case based on some circumstance that came before them (similar situations have happened more often that I can count already). :( However, remove the possibility for misinterpretation, remove the possibility for an unfortunate outcome somewhere down the line. That's quite honestly all there was to it. Nothing more, nothing less. [winkb]
