a "joke" from barnabas
« on: December 05, 2004, 07:59:59 PM »
i found at the flea maket a book called "barnabas collins in a funny vein".it asks one to "dig the groovy new humor craze that's sweeping the country...inspired by t.v.'s cool ghoul, barnabas collins...america's favorite pain in the neck".it's filled with the un-funniest jokes imaginable.

a good example..."what does barnabas eat for breakfast???ghost-toasties".i almost fell off my chair i laughed so hard! [a2a3]

Yeah, the jokes in that book are pretty lame.  ::)  But, hey, it was the '60s - a much more innocent time. Who knows what sort of jokes they might have put out today?  [chkyg]

I must confess a fondness for that book.  Yes, I realize jokes are terrible and that some of them aren't even jokes, but it's just so "out there," you know?

I've often wondered who wrote it?  It appears to have been typed up on an old, manual typewriter -- dig that Courier font!

I think my favorite "joke" in the book is:

"Does Barnabas eat dessert?"

"Yes.  When Barnabas wants something sweet, he bites Jill St. John.  When he can't find her, he bites someone with high blood sugar."

Oh, that Henny Youngman...

it's true...the 1960's were a more innocent time.and the book seems to have been marketed at kids.

but claude...how could you ever pick a favorite?there are so many gems.how about "you should hear barnabas talk about gore vidal.he says he'd like to drain gore of his vidality".

alot of the "jokes" aren't even specific to b...they could be "re-cycled" vampire jokes from anywhere. [8371]

Are you attributing a lack of originality to something associated with DS? I am positively stunned!  [santa_shocked]

You're so right!  The book contains more gems than Cartier and Tiffany combined!

"Does Barnabas like to visit Wisconsin?  Yes, he likes to visit Mil-squawk-ee."

"Does Barnabas know Mal?  Yes, he knows Mal.  Malignant."

"What does Barnabas' girlfriend call him?  She calls him 'Hun.'  Atilla the Hun."

o.k. claude, just a few more and then i'll stop.i would imagine our fellow members are having a hard time breathing by now...they've been laughing so hard for two days!

"what did barnabas order for lunch on september 23?he ordered lobster claws and let them bite him."
"is barnabas a fashion designer?he is.and all of his fashions have low necklines."
"who is barnabas' favorite comedienne?phillis chiller."

that's it!
