Color or Black and White

I'm totally confused. I see color pictures here on the Board for the first episode. And, from the comments about the black and white in Robservations and some of the remarks here, it would seem that the first episode was in color and only the second one black and white. However, BOTH were black and white for us. How did everyone else get to see color?!!!!

I'd guess that Robin summarized from MPI tapes. Mine has the first ep in color, but I don't know why SciFi showed it in B&W, though if I'm not mistaken they did the same thing during the last series run.

when ds was 1st syndicated in the mid 70s and through the 80s this ep was shown in b-w kinescope format. when mpi was releasing the eps, a color version of todays 1st episode was discovered and replaced the b-w kinescope. dont know why they dont replace it in syndication today. yes sci-fi showed it in b-w last time. i questioned it then. someone replied saying they showed it in COLOR the last time around but i didnt have sci-fi on my cable then and i cant be sure.

Apparently Jim Pierson's been telling Worldvision to update that master to the colour version for an age, but to no avail. Pity, as 1795 is where the introduction of colour finally begins to embellish the show's style rather than detracting from it.

The montage I put together for yesterday's episodes was made from captures taken from SciFi's second DS run (March, 1995 - September, 1997). Episode #367 was shown in color that time, as well as during the first run. But strangely the B&W kinescope has been shown instead the last two times.

Go figure...

It really is weird if they had the color episode previously and then now they don't! I suppose it might just have been the screen captures and those using the tape, but I thought I saw a few other comments implying color and got the impression that others saw color on SciFi - so I really thought I was going nuts!!
