a letter from nancy
« on: March 12, 2005, 05:58:09 PM »
i was surprised yesterday to open my mailbox and find mail from nancy barrett.it was a letter announcing her upcoming activities.she has launched a new website, nancy barrett online(www.nancybarrett.info),that will feature recollections, rare photos and such.also,on april 2 and 3 she will be a guest at the "big apple con" nostalgia convention in new york.that's been mentioned here before.www.darkshadowsonline.com/big apple for additional info.also mentioned before is her appearance in "judy and bea" on march 18 and 25,and april 1 and 8.212-206-0609 for reservations.
i'm tempted to go see it but the cover is $30 plus a $15 drink minimum.kind of pricey.and cabaret is not really my thing.is anyone else going?
i don't remember ever putting my name on a mailing list for nancy but it must have been at the fest. :P
sleep 'til noon and your punishment shall be the dregs of the coffeepot.

The last
ShadowGram update
explained how you can reduce the cover charge to $10 by mentioning SG when you call.  I hope you decide to go.  :)

The show also stars Peter and John who are members of the Collinwood Players
they were Carolyn and Julia in the last Fest's skit

As a sidenote, to promote the launch of her new site, Nancy Barrett has shared an exclusive photo with my website, picturing her with then-hubby David Ford (Sam Evans).

Isn't that nice?  :)

I always wonder about the timing of the marriage.  I think I did read something once, but forget what it was.  I'm always curious as to whether they were married while working on the show, before then and had already broken up, before then and broke up while doing the show, perhaps met on the show and married later, etc.

Nancy and David married in 1967 and were divorced a year or so later.

I was at the "Judy and Bea" performance this past Friday night and really enjoyed it.  "Judy" stated that she was the first choice for Liz Stoddard but recommended Joan Bennett get the role.  Imagine if Judy Garland was cast as Elizabeth?  Maybe she would have lived a lot longer, though its hard to picture her in the role as JB was excellent in it.

I loved Nancy's singing and she looks really good and very friendly, coming over to all the tables to say hello.

Here is a picture I asked to take with Nancy.

Thanks so much for sharing the photo, Joe. Nancy looks lovely, as always. And you don't look half-bad yourself.  ;)

I went to the Judy & Bea & Nancy is 3 cabaret show tonight in Manhattan.  I have to say it was a riotiously good time.  I recommend it to anyone who #1) loves Judy Garland and/or Bea Arthur, 2) understands the whole beauty of drag theatre and 3) luvs Nancy Barrett.  I took a friend who knew nothing about DS and she loved it too.

Nancy does a bit of the cabaret show she's done at DSFests + a new number that was deliciously fun---She also talks about Joanie Bennett and Grayson Hall (I was in heaven, yes!).   [bigok]
