I've had the chance to watch the first five eps of the show and I'm wondering if I and some of the reviewers have watched the same show because I'm enjoying it and for the most part I'm not seeing most of the flaws that they've found with it. And one of the best things is that it's the female characters that are often driving the plot. For example, unlike the original show, Maureen is not reduced to scenes of her making dinner, washing clothes, and standing around fretting - she's an astrophysicist, and her knowledge is central to much of the goings on. And Judy is a doctor and her knowledge has been needed on several occasions. And having a female Dr. Smith who's motives are just as twisted if not more so as those of the original Dr. Smith in the outset of the original series is certainly an added plus. In one instance I can't believe how she manipulates one of her fellow castaways! And it's almost as if she does it purely for her own amusement at creating strife in the group and undo heartache in the individual manipulated.
What's also interesting is that I've noticed that when it comes to the comments to most of the articles I've read, yes, there are those who don't like the show, but those are definitely outnumbered by the people who do. And almost universally the people who do like the show make a point of saying they were also fans of the original, so it's not simply a new audience who's enjoying it.
