Actually, he pokes a bit of fun at the snarling in the '91 Series (and gets very excited over the Depp/DS film). And even as a big fan of the '91 Series, I've always said that, even though I understand why DC came up with it, the snarling was a bit ridiculous. But that's our DC. He rarely knew when to leave well enough alone...
