Title: The 13 Best TV Vampires, Ranked
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on October 25, 2016, 09:38:23 PM
The 13 Best TV Vampires, Ranked (http://www.tvguide.com/news/13-best-tv-vampires-ranked-angel-spike-damon-salvatore/)

And AGAIN no Barnabas on the list!! And before you think that might be because the list isn't including soaps (as some lists have in the past), Caleb Morley of the soap Port Charles IS on the list!!

And who could forget his attack which featured the sensuous use of an ice cube:

And the clips of Caleb that the list features are also quite senual. But while I think Michael Easton was excellent as Caleb, he was no Frid/Barnabas, so Barn should also be on the list if Caleb is...

I know it was a 'big screen' release, most everyone has seen "Lost Boys" on TV.

I'm going to say "LB".

How about the lastest incantation of "Being Human"?

How about Benny, from "Supernatural"?

The most comments on the original post (including mine) are about the omission of Barnabas. [candle_in_skull_2] [candle_in_skull_2]

Considering it's a TV vampire list, who knows why some comments felt the need to bring up Jonny Depp. Well, I suppose we do know why.  [hall2_sad]  But still, Depp's Barn isn't a TV vampire.

How about Benny, from "Supernatural"?

He's on the list at #12.  [hall2_smiley]

Well, what I was preparing myself to respond with was:  "That's because generally as far as the main audience of lists like these understands, TV didn't even exist until they were watching it themselves, in the 1990s or later..."

But then I saw that Grandpa from The Munsters was on the list...

Yes, that's very true much too much of the time. And it's not just TV - it extends to practically all types of entertainment.  [hall2_rolleyes]

Also missing (and my all-time fave) Mick St. John of Moonlight with Alex O'Loughlin in the lead role.

I loved Moonlight. Like NBC with the '91 DS, CBS almost instantly regretted canceling it. Though in both cases it wasn't possible to bring them back... But I do have both on home video (though I haven't watched Moonlight in ages).

I haven't seen it since it aired. I haven't watched a vampire show since (that I can recall).

There used to be ways to watch Moonlight online for free. I'm not sure if any of them are still available. One that definitely isn't is Hulu...

I wonder if it holds up? Luckily, I still get my A.O. fix on Fri nights.  [hall_wink]

It was well written and produced, so I'm pretty sure it still holds up,  [hall2_smiley]

Sorry I didn't read your whole post MB, but how could peeps NOT mention Barnabas?

Okay, age.

But my daughters would've mentioned him.

Alot of people have heard of him from their moms or grandmothers. And, I mean a l o t !!!!

Going with the above mentioned names, they all watch Depp's DS on Freeform.

Patti, who's not a vampire, but, would gladly play one on TV.

I'm surprised that this list came from TV Guide and the fact they included the Port Charles vampire.

That's a really silly list.  I also don't understand the omission of Nicholas de Brabant/Nick Knight, as portrayed by Geraint Wyn Davies on FOREVER KNIGHT which was a 1990s series that lasted three seasons.  In some ways, Nigel Bennett's Lacroix on the same show was even more significant since he was really scary in a coldly calculating way.  Brilliant acting...

I could mention a lot of other vampires.  Several of the ones that were included were just plain silly or only a blip in their respective series.

Still, I'm sure most of the readership found the feature entertaining...

Gothick, you're not the only one who wondered why the Forever Knight vamps weren't on the list. I had the same thought - and so did at least one person who commented on the list...

their urban legend roots

urban roots???

Uh, not so much.

I see, "Being Human", and, I believe it was Aidan, but, I can't tell who the photo of the woman is (it's not Sally); I realize there have been I believe 4 different renditions of "Being Human"; I'm referring to the one that just went off SciFy about 2-3 years ago. Sorry I can't remember the werewolf's name, the show ended up definitely being mostly about him.

I'm glad they mentioned "Sesame Street"!!

Now, I'm not positive what type of 'ghoul' he was supposed to be, but, what about the 'mad scientist' who twice visited "Gilligan's Island" (different role)....he 'sort of' seemed like a vampire.

(And, if we're talking TV vampires, let's mention "The Practice", "L.A. Law", et al.!!)
