I've also been having trouble with my profile. Everytime I try to update my profile, it says my current email address is 'currently in use.' I'm sure it's not the image because I was trying to use one of the ones from the list of avatars.
VWR, thanks for telling me the specific error message because it helps tremendously.  When you attempted to update, our new setup detected a previous registration of yours with the same addy that's in your current profile.  I took care of it as same as we did back in July, so you should be able to update without seeing the error.

Luciaphil gave me the clue in her response so I did what I did before and used SEARCH. I think I know the answer.
Woo hoo, we appreciate it when users educate themselves!  Yes, there's always a link from these boards to the YaBB forums (currently YaBB SE).
I was just in the YaBB site. WOW! :o Are we able to use all these different avatars and smilies that they show or is that up to you to decide what you want for the board?

As far as smileys go, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to because they only have the same smileys that we currently have installed. They do have totally different avatars, though - all either photos or drawings from movies or TV shows. If those are available for download, I'd certainly be willing to download and install them. :)  (But just as there are on our site, there are also plenty of avatars on the YaBB SE site that were created for personal use by the posters themselves...)

Yes, we're free to install or remove whatever features, icons, avatars, etc. that we'd like.

Does the [applause] [smite] thing have something to do with avatars or the lack thereof?  I seem to be the only one on here who doesn't have them and the only thing I can think of that I don't have that everyone else does is an avatar..... ???

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I DID get the email. The only problem was that it had the same URL that I already had and did NOT bring me here. I did get a personalized "Kuanyin" with my error message, which was rather interesting....Then yesterday, I tried it (as I had every day) and it linked me here.
Thanks, kuanyin.  I'm sorry to say I don't have any ideas to offer as to why you got the error message, and the thread I mentioned concerned posters that were having problems maneuvering on the forums after they were already here due to their firewalls. :-  If you again find yourself unable to access the site for a prolonged period of time, please don't hesitate to email one of us.  But the important thing is that you're able to get here now, whew.

I was referring to the YaBB Smiley Sets under LINKS. I was looking for a shamrock smiley or a waving leprechaun. They had skeletons, pumpkins, cats, etc.

I went to change my profile to add my birthday but the message said I could not change my profile because my avatar is too large.  What does that have to do with what I was changing.  I am an extreme technophope so I think I will leave well enough alone.

Oh, OK. I had a few of those sets downloaded for the SP forum, but never had a chance to install them when their holiday came around. :( But hopefully I'll be able to install one the next time around. I could also install one of the horror themed set if enough people would prefer that over the basic yellow set. ;)

Here's a sampling:

Even though you were only making one change, everything in your profile is updated. And SE is far more strick about enforcing the 65X68 rule than SP was, so that's why you received the error.

To update your avatar, just open it in whatever graphics software you have on your computer and then resize/resample it. Your original image is 645X437, so you would have to resize/resample it to 65X44 to use the image as is. Or you could crop it before you resize so that Penny's pretty face shows up better. :)

Please don't be afraid to try - resizing/resampling is really pretty easy. It just takes a little practice. :)

Onyx_treasure, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Any of the Adobe programs are easy to work in.  Most will resize the height and width at the same time, so if you enter the 65 (width) first the height will automatically adjust.  Remember that you'll be working in pixels, not inches.  My apologies if this is too basic, but if not you then maybe it'll help someone else?

"Bandeja de salida" sounds so much more....romantic.... than plain ordinary "outbox", doncha think?  Can we look forward to finding phrases in other languages around our new digs?  :D

Thanks MB and Midnite :-* my husband resized Penny's picture for my avatar.  My husband is not a technophobe.  He loves gadgets.  He bought me an electric coffee grinder that only he uses.  Everytime he uses it, he has to scrape me and the cats off the ceiling.
