Title: Mysterious changing profiles
Post by: Bette on February 22, 2003, 10:30:58 PM
My profile keeps changing things without my knowledge. A few days ago I went into it and my language selection had been changed from English to Dutch :o

Just now I noticed that my avatar was gone. My profile had been changed to '' no pic".  It also lists a date for my birthday of Feb. 18, 2003.  Guess I'm really a newborn!

What in heck in goin' on here! Am I in some parallel band of time?  :-

Welcome to the Twilight Zone, Bette.  :D

Seems I was born on 2/18/03 also! I should probably notify my family... ::)

The default entry for that field is the date this version of the forum was installed. Just remove those numbers or enter the real ones - if you dare. LOL!

Actually, I downloaded an SE mod that will allow people to enter just the month and date without the year. ;) I'll post a notice once it's been installed...

That's great, MB. I'll be looking for that cuz there ain't no way that I'm revealing the year of my birth!  :-X

I, on the other hand, don't give a rat's rump who knows I was born in 1953....I'd just rather not have the actual date posted!

Oh, come on, Bette. Age is just a state of mind. I'll be 54 this year so that means my birth year is 1949 (Wow! I'm an old bag!) and I'm going with my 20 year old daughter to see Bon Jovi on March 3rd.  She's could've gone with anyone of her friends but wanted the both of us to attend as a mother/daughter team. Okay, Okay. Since you can do it, so can I, since I was also born in 1949 and am now 54. (Guess I'm an old bag, too!)

Enjoy Bon Jovi  :D

Yeah - you sure are.  I don't know why I even "hang out" with someone as old as you.  (There goes the karma)

Yep -- I knew it.  Now it's at -6.  LoveAtFirstBITE says I might as well go all the way.

MIDNITE & MB COLLECTIVELY BLOW CHUNKS.  (That should be good for a -30 or thereabouts).

I sure hope so! Better dress the part, too, with low-riders and halter top.

I went into profile to update and do the secret question but it said I had to enter my NEW password. What's wrong with my old one?

Absolutely nothing. ;)

One of the nicest new features of this forum is that any error messages people receive are logged to a file. We can then check the file, and therefore, help everyone better than we could on the SP forum. :)

The error that you received said: "You haven't entered your current Password. You have to enter your current Password to make any changes to your Profile."

For security reasons, editing the profile is now password protected. ;)

But I did enter my password and it still said the above.

Hi Carol,

I was able to add a secret question to my profile just now without choosing a new password.  Maybe there was a typo in the pw?  Also, if you reload the page or return to it using the back button after entering your p/w, you have to enter it again; that's also for security.

Have you been able to add a secret question/answer since you got the error message?

Maybe we should form a "club" within the forum - I'm another 1949er!!  My birthday's not until September, though.

Okay - anyone else born in '49?  I applaud anyone born in '49.

I was just there to add my birthdate and do the secret question plus put in my password--again it said, please add your password. So, I went back, added it again, and it still said the same thing. It's the same password I use for everything.

Obviously the 'secret question' is not a required field because I don't have one and I didn't have a problem deleting the incorrect birthdate.  But what, exactly, is the 'secret question' for?  With MY memory glitches I'd forget it 15 minutes after I put it in and THEN what would I do?  ???

rainey...if I remember correctly.

I see the 2 errors.  I guess I don't understand either, cuz if you enter your correct pw in the Required Info area at the top, add your b.d., and add or edit the secret question & answer as I just did in mine, the changes should be accepted.

Password retrieval.

Not if you enter a question that you won't forget the answer to.  Like your bank or credit card company would ask.

OT - I thought of you and MB when the latter's alter ego got a mention on last nite's SNL. :D

I'm afraid I have absolutely NO idea to what you are referring!  What possible connection can there be between our heroic Mysterious Benefactor and that odoriferous little rodent?

Have you been at the Merlot with a straw again, my dear?

LOL, well, to demonstrate that I'm not quite ready for the Betty Ford Clinic (yet), you can check out I'LL grab his hair for him!!!!!! at the very bottom of p. 5 of the Current Talk II board.  Scroll down around 4 or 5 replies to your conversation with he who has come to be known as "Pepe".  Enjoy! :D
