I'M ON MY VERY FIRST LAPTOP!!!
After figuring (?) stuff out, of course the first was to download Chrome.
Then, my first time online wasn't to FB, but to DARK SHADOWS [8_2_81]
I'll probably spaz alot; I'll definitely ask questions, but what kind of a cousin would I be if I didn't visit FAMILY first!
MERRY CHRISTMAS...and it's a little arduous at this point, but I know it's a cousin's bday...CastleBee's maybe (mod, please correct that).
Please, if you don't hear from me within 4-5 days, please send me an email to my 'desktop' (she says with haughty disdain in her voice!!)
I hope everyone is/has had a great Christmas and Hannukah!!!
Hey!! I'm in the late 20th century!!
Patti
PS...I don't usually use spell check....it came up with Hannukah, exactly as I had spelled it, and disdain, again correct. I went and spell checked again, and it gave me wordS which it didn't the first go-round (I hadn't changed anything).

Comgratulations Patti. By a sort of miracle, I may be moving up computer-wise myself, and just in time; sites won't load anymore.
-
Sounds like you two had an awesome holiday.

Membership of the other board I'm on (for Elton John) got together in a sort of kickstarter type thing, and got the new computer... a cord has had to be sent separately, so it's not all hooked up yet. I hope it's not all too good to be true.
Holidays are always hard in my situation, but this ray of hope's definitely helping.

Wow, Magnus! That's incredible - what a wonderful thing to do. All the best with it!!

Hi Patti congrats on your first laptop. I have one as well. My sister and her husband bought it for me.

While watching last weeks Golden Globe Awards, I was happy to see how many awards were given to made-for-online shows. (If that's not the proper way to say it, please tell me what it is.)
I was just on Amazon, and there was this banner/ad to help Amazon pick it's next series; there were about 8 shows to pick from. It was 50 minutes. Someone also mentioned they didn't want to see ads; I only notice a few before the show started, not one during the show.
I read a few reviews.....and I watched my first made for online show!!!!
(It's called 'Cocked'; a few reviewers said there was a touch of 'Dallas'.)
It was free (I guess all of them are, I suppose for this week...).
My question is, did I 'load' it to my computer, or 'stream' it...I don't want a show of any kind on my first laptop. How do I check?
Thanks,
Patti

Did you select Watch Now, in which case it streamed, or did you select Download?
-
Watch Now...so it's NOT stored somewhere on my 'puter, right?
Thanks!

I saw something from Microsoft....make sure you have a firewall. Visit the
Windows Store
to get one.
I could NOT find anything about how to get a firewall.
Thankfully, I was also running Task Mgr.
I see that I have McAfee (who knew??) with a firewall.
Here's my question: I DO have McAfee, but keep getting those annoying pop ups at bottom I think for Norton. How can I block them?
Patti
PS, yes MB, the spoiler was to protect your delicate eyes :)
